It's Gonna Snow? Oh No! Oh No! Oh No!- A Winter MMP

Go you! Sometimes you just have to walk away and let it percolate in the back of your mind for a while.

Remote work still exists, don’t lose hope. If all else fails, you can apply to be a food stamp worker. Pay sucks, management is horrible, but its steady work and then you will be able to apply for other state jobs that are hiring internally.

Do deliveries work there like they do here? They give you a four hour window and you stay home but the driver shows up at a different time or a few hours later?

Hurray for cuddles, that’s got to help motivate you to keep working.

You are falling for my nice act again. Y’all need to start asking yourself what I’m getting out of it. Well, besides having someone at the protests with me in case I get disappeared, I also now have a local guide to show me where all of the really good stores are.

Not to mention the cookies. I really do like to bake. Hubs is low carb and doesn’t like having cookies around. Now I can make a batch of cookies, eat two and give the rest to James.

See? Its all about me

That was actually me, and yes, if he is having conscious sedation the medical staff will not let your son leave the same day without a driver. Full anesthesia isn’t very popular nowadays unless it is really needed. It is dangerous, and really hard on bodies. It also takes a breathing tube which would be hard for a dentist to work around.

We really do want me to be right about this, your son doesn’t need the extra drugs in his system.

Have a very safe drive, your description doesn’t sound like a whole lot of fun.

HURRAY!!! All of that is good news, braces are easier than casts, but a full shower without tape is huge. Go Sunflower!

I bought a dozen LED candles a couple of years ago and was really amazed at how realistic they are. They even feel like wax!

I hope it doesn’t take long to get used to your new tech toys. New keyboards always make my fingers grumbly because the keys are a hair bigger/smaller/closer/farther away than I am used to.

Yeah. I don’t know that I could have done it in time to get to work, that’s a LOT of steps.

BUMMER!

OK, good. You got me worried. It probably wouldn’t hurt to inventory your go-bag. Every time I go through ours, I find something else that needs adjusting.

I started baking cookies today and hubs thought that I should make some for the delivery folks (UPS, FedEx, USPS) so I’ll be baking again in a couple of days. Mom said she wanted more cookies and liked the goat milk soap I sent her so I need to go to Madison for soap and then box things up and go to the post office. After this run, I will be done. (famous last words)

It did warm up today, but it was drizzling rain all day as well. It was a good day to stay home and make chicken soup while baking cookies.

I had to move my lemon tree away from the french doors. It was getting too cold and started dropping leaves again. It is growing new leaves and has flower buds so it is doing OK, it just isn’t happy with the current living conditions.

I should probably head off to bed, it is going to start snowing tonight and I’ll want to be up early to watch it.

Have good nights all.

Um… What? Minimum wage here is $16.66/hour. Not great, and I’d rather make $10/hour more; but it might be a good gateway. I’m on WorkSource Washington, and I haven’t seen anything for ‘food stamp worker’.

I’m expecting 32 pounds of coffee tomorrow. (Sixteen two-pound bags of Dark Roast, French Roast, and medium roast).

We are down to zero throw pillows on the couch, due to someone with 4 feet shredding them both. And she’s extra rambunctious this evening.

Your state is much more complicated than AZ or WV. I’ve always been able to just look at jobs without having to sign up for anything. Geeze.

Anyhow, my official title when I walked out was Public Services Eligibility III. I didn’t just do food stamps, I also did medicaid and TANF.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s a balmy 44 degrees Ferret Height(6.67 Centipedes)

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 42 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 58 and sunny. This is more like Winter weather for these parts. The plan of the day is to take care of candle duty over to the church house, be bears who brunch at Waffle House (someone has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for WH hash browns) and go on a ramble. The rest of the day will be devoted to RDOS inactivities as is our wont.

Red sorry Nelson didn’t get to visit, but yay for walkin’ and terlet progress.

Hippie hooray for Sunflower!

Now I need more caffeine and need to eat a little sump’n so’s I can take meds. Then I shall purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. WH is a place to encounter the great unwashed as it is a holy place unto them.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Good morning!

Taters, I hope you have a safe trip and all goes well when you have to drive your son.

Flyboy, they are still hiring AI trainers out there. It’s not necessarily a permanent job, but the pay is pretty decent. I still get emails looking for workers from several different companies.

Well, I’m here swimming in the IEPs, but I am making progress. I have to figure out what to do about a meeting this afternoon. There is a certain task that I’m supposed to have done and I haven’t done it. Not because I don’t want to, but with my health issues and the 5 billion IEPs, I just didn’t. Today we’re supposed to bring documentation of the work. And since I haven’t done it… I’m just trying to figure out if I should be proactive and point out I haven’t and why I haven’t or if I should wait until they ask for the information. The difference that I can see is that I’d be handing them something they could hold against me if I go first and have documented what I have and haven’t done.

I don’t know. I’m probably going to ask a knowledgeable friend and see what she says.

They had to cath me for a bit last night to get a urine sample. I may have another kidney infection. Keep appendages crossed that I don’t and have more antibiotics in my future.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with no predicted change, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Cloudy with a fucking chance of not giving a fucking shit.” Hmm….not impressed with today? Look out there, it’s bright and shiny today!

I don’t think I have CDO to contend with, but the list helps me focus on what I actually need rather than wasting time and money on other stuff. Thus there are certain aisles in the supermarket that I never go down

I am so happy for you both, Sunflower must be pleased to be able to do a little more for herself too.

It sounds like you have everything well documented and you’ve set up a good process to do the job. I wish they were more grateful for you and your talents.

Hurrah! Excellent progress, but a shame Nelson wasn’t able to visit. Fingers and paws crossed for today instead.

It depends very much on who is doing the delivering! I had a beer delivery today, they used a specific courier who gave me a 3hr window and a tracking link. He was here early! The generic courier services are a bit hit and miss, and Royal Mail might deliver any time between now and the middle of next year.

That sounds like a very sensible solution. No point handing them ammunition if you can find a better way round that.

Yesterday was not a bad day on campus although there were a lot of people in the office so minimal productivity. Our mince pie meeting was very pleasant, and a nice hour out of the office. I went home and tended to the needs of some severely neglected cats who’d been home alone all day. Then had dinner and went to the pub with my friends. Good night out, some very nice new beers, and I was home in bed by 11.30pm.

I’m working from home today as I went to campus on Tuesday this week, so it’s been a slightly later start. Cats are snoozing, Muffin occasionally looks at me and chirps but is content to watch me work. I’ve had a minion meeting and answered a few queries from a colleague. I also let our non-existent manager’s manager know that I’ve completed interim review documentation for my minions and will have had update meetings with them by the middle of next week. I also told her I’d filled in my own interim documentation and had a chat with myself about it so she can consider that complete too.

Since I had some spare time today, I put some fresh colour on my hair, wrapped a gift for ‘im indoors so I could hide that away before he comes home tonight, and have two gifts to wrap for friends which I’ll do in my lunch break. After irk, I need to prepare some campus food for tomorrow, have dinner and collect ‘im indoors from the station. Thus goeth my day.

At least he didn’t try to convert you or badger you to come to his church. That’s always fun… :open_mouth:

Funny how that procedure has changed. My dad had a big ol’ scar from his surgery and some hospital time. I had three teensy, tiny abdominal incisions for a laparoscopic procedure and I went home the same day. Wonder how long before they do it on line… remotely…

How long have you been a Mumper? Haven’t you figured out it’s all about ME, dammit???
:princess:

So far (fingers crossed) Otis hasn’t torn up anything furniture-related or furniture-adjacent. But yesterday he stole a roll of paper towels from FCD’s shop and festooned the back yard. Even if my sweetie hadn’t gathered it all up, it would probably have melted/disintegrated before too long. Yeah, rambunctious pups are, um, a challenge.

red - Crossing what I can, even tho it makes walking awkward. I do hope you get back to normal life soon.

I guess, despite occasional blips, my system is readjusting to a wake time between 6 and 7. And for the most part, when I wake at some stoopit hour, I can fall back to sleep. Today, I made it till almost 7, even with waking around midnight and 4. It was 35 Ferrets, which is significantly higher than it has been in recent mornings. But it won’t last. On Sunday night, they’re threatening 18 Ferrets.

Still, up, fed (oatmeal with raisins) and doing my morning surfage before running to Food Lion and CVS for a few items. Then home to do the final coat of clear on the 3 items I’ve been finishing. Tomorrow, I can start on the nav light boards.

Last night, I scrubbed the plexiglass panes that go around the front of the flybridge - they were pretty gross. Then FCD polished them, so they’ll go to the boat today along with the treads that go at the three boarding points along the rail. These would be the same treads (well, one of them anyway) that tore up my shin last year when I fell against it. Ah, memories!

Anyway, that’ll be my day, plus whatever else comes up. I texted Jessica about picking up more blankets. She says they’re very popular, so she’ll have 6 more to distribute. I guess after the holidays I’ll need to order more yarn. I’ll need to find a new pattern or two - the ones I’ve been doing over and over are getting boring. I suppose I could switch to knitting for a while.

I sold a chair and ottoman that I’d had on FB Marketplace for a few months. It was a leather pair that I’d given to FCD about 35 years ago and it was just in the way in the basement, so I’m glad someone else will use it. When I deleted the listing on FB, I was asked if I’d sold it - yes. Was it to someone on FB or another source - FB. Who specifically bought it - nope, at that point, I X’d the window. Why would FB need to know that? None of their bizzniss! Dammit! Still, I’m $60 richer, so yay! Now I can move some furniture around downstairs.

I see blue skies and sunshine beyond my window - I guess the day has truly begun.

Happy Thursday!!

Good morning.

It’s still very, very soggy and floody here. It’s 50F, and that’s where the temperature will hover all day. The rain will continue to fall for several hours. Rivers, creeks, and streams have flooded and some have reached record levels. GO NOW evacuations abound all the way from Johnny’s neck of the woods down to southern Washington. I’m sure Oregon is dealing with that as well. My house sits on a hill, so I’m good. As of yesterday afternoon, parts of the state received eight inches of rain in 24 hours. I think it’s supposed to start drying out a little starting tomorrow, but there is a ton of clean-up from the flooding.

I read, but don’t have time to respond to much because I’m leaving in a few minutes. All the same, yays, boos, and trout slaps where appropriate. Take care.

Good morning! I did 30 minutes on the stationary bike last night. Maybe I’ll do some dumbbell work today. Maybe.

Outdoors, it’s 26 degrees F. It will rise to a balmy 27 before falling to 13. Eek!

Hippie, getting the cast off is wonderful. Showering with a bag taped to your arm is bizarre, and the tape can yank off a piece of skin when removed.

Weather.gov says we currently have 36 ferrets (2 centipedes), which is the predicted high for the day. They’re now offering a 60% chance of snow Sunday.

Same here – was out of the hospital and on my way home just a few hours after arriving there. First stop, however, was Squadron, to check out on convalescent leave. Can’t remember if it was immediately before arriving at Squadron or very shortly after leaving that I had Lady SCAdian pull over so I could open the door and puke on the pavement instead of in the car. Yes, the surgery was done by a Navy doctor at the base clinic (which used to be a full-fledged hospital).

KING5 morning news just came back from a break. The two hosts (Jake Whittenberg and Mimi Jung) were standing in front of a large video screen. The shot was taken from a higher angle, and was thus looking down at them. I found it amusing that Mimi Jung was standing on an apple box. You’re not supposed to see grip equipment in the shot.

look at muffin! being all chatty! what a good girl.

this morning i came close to missing the shuttle, one elevator and a traffic jam on the ground floor. aargh. i believe we are up to 8 people in the office. milk and cookies (biscuits) for breakies.

Back from erranding - I even tried out the new car wash in Leonardtown. For $11, it knocked all the crud off my car. I could have used their free vacuums, too, but it’s too cold to be outside doing that. Plus the inside of my car isn’t bad since it’s pretty much just me in it most of the time.

Anyway, it’s all blue now, not spattered with white snow-meltage spots. Plus it’s quick - cars are pulled thru the tunnel on a conveyor belt. The other place I’ve used has a wait because you park in the tunnel (actually, more like a big garage) and the cleaning equipment moves around you. This place can be running cars thru continuously.

Shortly, I’ll clean the basement fireplace and start a fire so it’ll be warm when I go to work in a couple of hours. All in all, tho, a mostly chill day.

Morning all. Stayed in the sack until 7:30am today so should be well-rested for whatever the rest of the day brings. Have Cheerio’ed my breakfast and am awaiting the garbage folks to come and get the trash so I can move the bin back into the garage. Outside of coupon-hunting on the Kroger site for the Firday shopping and the usual library-gym combination, nothing much on the agenda. It’s 39F heading to 48F later but no rain predicted so no complaints for mid-December.

flyboy, thanks for the info, hope wife has a good trip. Been through Sea-Tac several times, it’s a busy place but seems to be well-organized. Good wishes on the job search.

JtC, had full sedation back in the day when my wisdom teeth got pulled, ended up driving myself home afterward (in retrospect, not the smartest thing I have done in my life…). And Hubs had a good idea on cookies for the delivery folks, I suspect the Xmas rush will be trying and they are likely to remember the cookie lady fondly.

VanGo, are you considering training? Sounds like she could use some professional intervention. (IMHO which ain’t worth that much).

swampy, happy brunching.

red, aw damn, hope the infection is just a bad rumor and you keep on improving.

 Always the best types of reviews…

FCM, Also had the laparoscopic operation but it was fairly new at the time so they did it in the morning and kept me overnight. And 7am is plenty early for the day, IMHO, glad your system is agreeable to that. And yeah, companies can be so inquiring about things you buy from them/sell through them, albeit I’ve never done it via Facebook yet (and after your description, in no hurry to start). And may take my new car for it’s first carwash today, just to clean off the first 2,000 or so miles off of it. We’ll see.

Taters, stay dry.

Knots, 30 minutes is my limit on the stationary bike. I can treadmill up to 60 minutes, but try to vary times and efforts just to keep things from becoming too routine.

And onward into Thorsday. Take care all.

I’m alone.

Well, I, Goo, Abbey, and Findus are alone. I took Wifey, RN to the airport for her medical mission in El Salvadore. Got there a little after seven. Her flight to SEA doesn’t take of until 09:15, so she has more than an hour to read or something.

Got home, cleaned the litter boxes, took out the fishy trash (and sprayed the bin with Lysol), and texted Wifey. I’m taking PTO today.

Just finished hacking up the first spiral ham I think I got 8 or 9 meals out of it, plus diced chunks and a bone for a future bean soup. Daughter doesn’t want such small portions (8 oz) so I’ll cut hers in quarters - that’ll make quick work of it. Otis will get some bonus bits of ham in his supper tonight.

I’m having a bowl of bean soup before attacking Daughter’s ham, followed by a descent to the basement. This has turned out to be a busier day than I expected.

OMG - Ziva came out of the bedroom!!! FCD took Otis to the marina to drop off some stuff. It’s peaceful here, so Her Highness ventured forth. She even scored some kitteh treats, because I’m nice, dammit!

OK, lunch is done. Time to hack up the other ham.
