It's Han Solo! And he's been frozen in Carbonite!

The newest, most complicated Hallmark Christmas Ornament of the year is out. And it’s only $65!!

It’s already out of stock on Amazon.

Hallmark club member here,

I saw it in the store. It was a bit much, and I don’t just mean price.

Last year, they had the multiple ornament set of Star Trek, and when you got them all, they acted out an episode (with soundclips from the TOS episode!). I think it was “worse” than the carbonite one. It didn’t appear that you couldn’t shut it off once it started, and it ran for like what seem to be 10 minutes.

They’ve also got a multi-ornament set of Disney Haunted Mansion ornaments, one of which is a topper. It’s more than $65.

A friend of mine once spent his first Christmas in his first, studio apartment, with no decorations to his name. He procured a tree anyway, a pretty small one, and then went to buy some ornaments for it and was shocked at the prices for the ordinary stuff. He could afford one string of the tiny lights, some of those strands of tinsel, and a single box of 12 glass bulbs.

Even on the small tree, it wasn’t enough.

So he went through his stuff. He had a little toy Starship Enterprise, and all his old Star Wars figures, so the ship, and R2 & 3PO went on the tree. So did a bunch of other stuff, including a souvenir bottle opener for some European beer, a mini Coke bottle, some little Lionel trains, and his grandfather’s Purple Heart.

On the very top of the tree was a model of the Death Star .

It was the coolest tree I ever saw. I wish I had a pic.

This was 1986 or 87.

Guess he was ahead of his time.

Eight minutes! In case anyone cares:
