It’s 10.30am, and not a single phone call. I did a walk around the floor a few minutes ago. At a guess, I’d say that three quarters of the staff are on leave.
It’s a bit spooky really…

Here here. It’s 11.35 and there’s 3 of us in. Because of a bad decision made by management. I’m so over this joint. Here’s to New Year, new job prospect.
It has its advantages of course. I’ve just been out to the sales.
I haven’t ventured into them this year (I’m in North Sydney for work so it’s pretty limited shopping wise). Some of my friends have scored some awesome bargains though.
My wife works in a credit card call center and was hoping for a quiet day, but it’s been surprisingly busy. A lot of people calling in today to report their cards lost or stolen…
I stayed in a giant old building one night to set up a sale. There was a janitor and me. It was very creepy and when the old ventilation came on it was worse than creepy. It used a centrifugal blower the size of a UPS truck.
My husband always works the Christmas/New Year period. He says he gets heaps done because he doesn’t have to go to any meetings and nobody bugs him. This year there are fewer people in his office than normal because the days worked out so that if you took 3 or 4 days of leave you’d get the whole 3 weeks off.
He’s been wearing Friday casual to the office and finishing work at 4pm. I love the holiday season.
That’s pretty much the reason why I always work over the Christmas/New Year week.
Me too. It’s so nice to be able to come to work in shorts and a t shirt, rather than a suit.
