It's NOT Gaudere's law! Or we fail at the internet!

This.

And that.

When was Gaudere’s Law first stated on the SDMB?

TLDR.

Shodan

Answering my own question, it appears to have started here. Guadere seems to be aware that it’s probably already a rule of the internet.

Back when people used to play MTG on apprentice in #e-league, we had this “* mc* 4L” meme.

It went something like this:

Internet cliches, mcInternet cliches, 4L

Super-Pornographic Overlords, mcSuper-Pornographic Overlords 4L

Those were good times

I therefore suggest Euty’s Law : Within any closed group of people on the internet, every internet law will eventually develop and be claimed as original.

I feel sure someone has already thought of that.

This seems to be as good a place as any to ask what d&r means. I’ve only seen it on the Dope.

Ducking and Running?

Used after a post that will knowingly cause a reaction

I know that a lot of times, dopers hear internet memes here and think we invented it.

But ‘cite’ is ours, right? I mean, I know we didn’t invent the word, but it is sort of ours as a meme, right? I hope so. I like it.

Won’t someone think of the kittehs?!

Every time someone types “kitteh,” god kills a kitten.

And everytime god kills a kitten he masturbates because, well, that’s what “killing kittens” means.

Given the subject matter, I can only assume this was intentional.

I got yer Gotcha Ya right here, buddy!

I see what you did there.

A couple folks above have seemed to think otherwise, but “When come back bring pie” isn’t original to the SDMB…

I first came across it in the 1992 Billy Crystal vehicle Mr Saturday Night. It means something like “not only did I get the joke you just made [despite maybe not laughing], but I understand the form of humour you employed to make it, and I respect the comedic talent that went into it”.

In Soviet Russia, memes means 4) profit

Si (who suspects that a reasonable number of technically astute dopers also read Slashdot, so memes cross-pollinate)

I dunno. I saw it on Fark before I got here. But it died out quickly there. And it was in 2005 or so, so it’s not like the Dope couldn’t have been the origin.
