It's Opening Day. Baseball is here.

I attended those games. MLB gets paid a lot of money to have games played here.

Back to the topic: GO DODGER BLUE!

I thought the Mets looked great – they scored 6 runs without getting much of anything from their best hitters, Glavine was mostly great, and when he wasn’t great some terrific defense really picked him up. A diving catch from Moises Alou, for crying out loud. We’re about the same age and I hesitate before diving like that into water. I expect the bullpen to blow more games this year than last, but I still think they’re better than the Phillies and the Braves – much better lineup, anyway, and I expect great things from Maine and Pelfry and intermittently great thing from Perez. And, eventually, Pedro, whom I expect to return in mid-July as a knuckleballer.

Looking forward to the Yankees opener. There’s just so much more drama over there in the Bronx.

Last year was the first year I didn’t have cable TV since the Indians went almost-exclusively to cable. I had a fun time listening on the radio.

But this year, I have plans to watch more games on TV. So as to include my boyfriend in this venture (who neither has cable nor likes baseball), I’ve decided I’m going to watch more games at bars. Except now you can’t smoke at bars (we both smoke). So I’m going to have to join the VFW (sponsored by my dad) and hang out at the VFW to watch baseball.

Or, hang out more with my dad.

I’m cutting out of work early to catch the Tribe/Sox opener at 2:05 at his house. Yay yay yay yay!!

Not a bad opener. It’s not often you see a batter get the bunt down on a squeeze play and have it stop about a foot from the plate, giving the catcher an easy play on the runner coming in from third. Great throw in centerfield to cut down the runner at home.

Glad to see Morgan put down a silly stat. So Glavine is 134-0 when spotted a five run lead. He correctly pointed out that you don’t see guys stay in long enough to give up six runs once ahead by five.

The season hasn’t even started yet, and the Royals are in mid-season form…the reliever they pinned their hops on is injured.

But, it still beats the hot stove. Go Royals! Hooray for baseball!
