It's possible that Spring is finally coming

Thursday and Friday were extraordinary warm (25 C) days here in Amsterdam. The trees in my street are greener by the the day. It seems this afternoon I see even more leaves than this morning.

It was 36° in southern Merrylande this morning, so, nope, not spring yet. Dammit.

It’s been such an unusually cold/cool Spring here in the Cincy area. My 10 day forecast as of right now has a high temperature of 70 forecast…for May second. Everything else is high 50’s to mid 60’s. The only thing consistent with Spring has been precipitation, but a lot of that earlier this month was snow instead of rain.

Hallelujah!!! It was in the 60’s this weekend and will be at least 65 today. We still have massive snow banks along the side of the garage and the back or our house where the snow slid off the roofs. They’ll stick around for at least a month. The yard is like a sponge - really wet.

Memorial weekend is usually our garden/planting kickoff. It will still get really cold at night until then and usually a few times after that.

It was in the low seventies here today and is supposed to be nice for the next few days. A light breeze makes it just right to sit on the front porch without getting too chilly or too warm.

Canada geese live here year 'round, so no big deal there but I saw the first swallows of the season today. Yay! I always love seeing them when they come back.

A crow young’un, probably from the nest across the street, has already fledged and spends some of his time in the nearby trees bawling for his parents to feed him.

The back yard is full of wood hyacinths and I just noticed that the leaves on our mountain ash are already halfway to being full sized. The leaves of the neighborhood horse chestnuts are nearly half-sized, too, unfolding like small umbrellas.

Spring, whether it arrives early or late, is a magical thing to behold.

its been around 90-94 since Friday …
