Go outside and dance in the snow. Jump around, roll around, whatever. It’s fun. I love snow. We have a lot here. (I’m in MN. It’s been snowing constantly for more than 12 hours. I like it.)
Well, after I started the thread, I had the urge to go and make a fool out of myself.
First, I tried to catch the snowflakes, but after a while, a few too many went up my nose. So I changed my gameplan, and dove into the snow(which is very wet, thanks for warning me in advance) Very fun, but very cold!
Just sitting here inside drying off, I’ve got butterflies like I haven’t had since my first day of school. I’m anxious to find some people to go attack w/ snowballs! Speaking of snowballs… I’ve never made a snowball before, is there a special way? Or do I just grab it and throw?
Wump covered the basics but there are a few extra things you should know if you have never had a snow ball fight before.
If you don’t like getting your hands incredibly cold but still want accuracy use neoprene gloves. I use Kayaking gloves and find it works real well.
Do not under any circumstances throw ice or sleet balls. It takes the fun out of a snow ball fight real fast when you get hit by a chunk of ice or hit somebody else and hurt them.
Don’t think that it’ll be really neat when you make a giant snow ball and hit your friends. You will miss. Unless you have incredibly large hands it is difficult to throw a large snow ball with any accuracy. Especially if you are wearing gloves. Make your snow balls the size of a baseball or smaller.
Have fun and don’t get mad if you get hit in the ear or nose. Chances are it was an accident.
Have plenty of warm liquid on hand for after the fight.
Did you notice the other people out trying to catch snowflakes?
They are from the south too.
Go find them and have a ball.
It will get old soon but the first measureable snowfall of the year is usually greeted by a smile even by us old timers.
In Raleigh-Durham we now have about 2 inches on the ground. It started out this morning as rain, switched fairly quickly to snow, and after a few hours started sticking on the ground. The temp is barely freezing, so the snow has been huge wet flakes all day long, the kind that sticks nicely to the trees.
