It's snowing!!!

I can’t BELIEVE this!!!

This morning, I sit up, look out the window, and BOOM everything’s white!

I go to college in NC, but I’m from Florida, so I’ve never seen snow fall before, what should I do?

Should I bolt outside and make a total fool out of myself?
Or should I take a chair and admire the view?

Go outside and dance in the snow. Jump around, roll around, whatever. It’s fun. I love snow. We have a lot here. (I’m in MN. It’s been snowing constantly for more than 12 hours. I like it.)

I hate you. I want snow so bad!

(go make a fool out of yourself. It’s what I would do)

Eat the yellow snow!

It’s lemon flavored.

Speaking as someone who went the opposite way; grew up with snow and moved somewhere with a complete abscence of snow, here’s my advice:

Sit back, enjoy the pure, raw beauty of it for a while.

Then, find a couple of people and head out and have a snowball fight! I don’t care how old you are, a good snowball fight is pure entertainment…

Enjoy it for me!

Steal a cheap plastic cafeteria tray and find a hill. Sled. Smile.

Well, after I started the thread, I had the urge to go and make a fool out of myself.

First, I tried to catch the snowflakes, but after a while, a few too many went up my nose. So I changed my gameplan, and dove into the snow(which is very wet, thanks for warning me in advance) Very fun, but very cold!

Just sitting here inside drying off, I’ve got butterflies like I haven’t had since my first day of school. I’m anxious to find some people to go attack w/ snowballs! Speaking of snowballs… I’ve never made a snowball before, is there a special way? Or do I just grab it and throw?

Go to a grocery store. Buy every container of milk, every loaf of bread, and every roll of toilet paper.

If people didn’t know you were from the south before, they do now.

ROFL as I try to type this.

What shall I do with my newfound multitudes of milk, bread, and t.p.?

  1. Test snow (is it wet snow or “dry” and powdery)
  2. If wet, you may use gloves, if not, bare hands are the only easy way to make one that sticks together.
  3. Grab snow
  4. Make into ball shape
  5. Throw at target
  6. Repeat steps 3-5

Snow Ball Fights (a lost art)

Wump covered the basics but there are a few extra things you should know if you have never had a snow ball fight before.

  1. If you don’t like getting your hands incredibly cold but still want accuracy use neoprene gloves. I use Kayaking gloves and find it works real well.

  2. Do not under any circumstances throw ice or sleet balls. It takes the fun out of a snow ball fight real fast when you get hit by a chunk of ice or hit somebody else and hurt them.

  3. Don’t think that it’ll be really neat when you make a giant snow ball and hit your friends. You will miss. Unless you have incredibly large hands it is difficult to throw a large snow ball with any accuracy. Especially if you are wearing gloves. Make your snow balls the size of a baseball or smaller.

  4. Have fun and don’t get mad if you get hit in the ear or nose. Chances are it was an accident.

  5. Have plenty of warm liquid on hand for after the fight.

Wheeeeeee thump!!!

I hate snow.

Live and have lived in Montreal all my life and I HATE winter… So cold and slushy and icky.

Kill it. Take a huge knife and just stab the snow. That’ll help. (It’ll help my mental state, anyway =>)

Let it Snow!!! let it snow, let it snoooowwwww…

Love snow! I drove into work today and hit every drift in the road… ‘wuff’ Wuffff’ ‘WUUUFFFF!’

Yesterday I made my favorite Calvin and Hobbbes sculpture on my lawn. (the snowman trying to swim away from sharks fins)

SNOW!!!

“can you imagine what the face value of this mountain is?” -better off dead.

We haven’t been taking our medication, now have we, dear?

Try to stay calm.

Did you notice the other people out trying to catch snowflakes?
They are from the south too.
Go find them and have a ball.
It will get old soon but the first measureable snowfall of the year is usually greeted by a smile even by us old timers.

I’d give anything to have it snow here. It’s not even cold enough to need a sweater yet. :(:(:(:frowning:

Is it sticking? I’m in NC and we’ve been getting snow all day here too but its all melting.

Well, we have about 6" now and it’s still coming down. I love snow!

In Raleigh-Durham we now have about 2 inches on the ground. It started out this morning as rain, switched fairly quickly to snow, and after a few hours started sticking on the ground. The temp is barely freezing, so the snow has been huge wet flakes all day long, the kind that sticks nicely to the trees.
