I understand the board might work perfectly on my phone’s browser but I actually prefer Tapatalk to using Safari. Will Tapatalk be an option to use?

As I understand it, no you can’t use Tapatalk. Discourse has its own mobile app equivalent.
Eh, it’s no worse than what we have now. That thread on the test site lists “system” as the author of each post, but the thread is readable. The original user names were lost a long time ago so you can’t expect us to ever get them back now.
The quote in the last post didn’t quite port over correctly, but you can still tell it’s a quote. The thread is perfectly readable. I’d say it’s good enough.
I just tried to change my email address to my main most-used email address, but in order to do that, it also asked me to change my password. Fine. I changed my password and entered the email address I want to use and I got the message that my email address has been banned. WTF? Sigh. I think I’ll just leave everything alone. For now. And wait for other problems after the move.

If you are not logged in, as would all the people who forgot to update their email/password, it is rather difficult to track down a moderator’s email address. You might want to put a couple somewhere people can find them as a backstop. Maybe in the announcement thread or something. I mean, you realize there are posters who don’t check in every week, right? This information may be “freely available” way too late.
We needed a change, and we’re getting it. I welcome the news!

I think this should be modified to:
“Go to the User CP and make sure your email address is up-to-date!”
The other information doesn’t matter. And by failing to clarify this some people will update other information–but not the email address.
And give the reason–the need to re-register…
But will Tapatalk still WORK? If I’m not seeing that stupid commercial umpteen times a day, I may need to ask my doctor to cut back the dosage of my BP meds.
No. Discourse does not have support for Tapatalk.
Eh, you’re not understanding what I’m saying. But you will next Friday, so no sense belaboring the point now.
I generally do all of my vBB coding by hand. Am I going to have to learn new coding protocols?
It’s not planned for at the present time.
I do note Discourse has mobile apps for both IOS and Android. That may possibly be of use to you.

No. Password and email are on the same page. You are not required to change both of them.
I would think you could NOT change your email and your password at the same time because when you make a change the system sends you a confirmation email. You can do one at a time. One transaction at a time.
It will do no good to change your password now. That password will not be on the new site and you will STILL have to set up a new password when you get there.
We do have a ban list fo some email domains. What were you trying to use?
