It's the 80th Annual Academy Awards® Thread!

Great pregnancy joke! This Oscars has a light-heartedness that is unexpected to me–and refreshing.

There seems to be less glamor and more a “We’re regular folks just like you!” feel. The reality-show influence, maybe?

I love Jon Stewart. I’d have his babies.

I suppose I could send her a Bob Marley CD. Legend is generally the album of choice if you’re only going to have one reggae album, right?

I could do without the singing.

All right, the Chenoweth showing how it’s done! Nice number, although to be accurate, in my experience, about 90% of the brides you see in Central Park are Chinese-American.

Me too. <sigh>

I don’t think I’ve ever liked the Oscar song. They don’t seem to pick good ones..

I liked that song and Chenoweth has some great pipes. Damn I hope her and Ellen Green do more duets on Pushing Daisies.

I was rooting for “Blame Canada” in 2000. But didn’t they wuss out and go with a montage of all the songs that year?

Who ARE these guys who are not Judi Dench and Halle Berry?

I remember Robin Williams doing an edited version.

They were in Superbad.

Seth Rogan and his clone

And I believe that that is 4. I’m still thinking that the over is looking good.

Make that 5. Thanks people from Bourne Ultimatum. (Are those movies any good?)
But where do the animated shorts (or the live action for that matter) play?

I’d love to see them–I can’t even see Persepolis around here!
I rented a DVD from Netflix with all of the live-action and animated nominated films from 2006, so it’s possible that a DVD will be produced with this year’s nominees.

If I were Dame Judy, I’d be pissed that a guy with a beard is supposed to be me.

IMO, Ratoutioulle was just not that good a movie. (I am not spell checking that, kay?)

Thanks,** supervenusfreak** for the answer. Seems stupid to me that once they got past the joke that they wouldn’t actually say who they were. Surely I’m not the only person who would not know.

Jonah Hill and Seth Rogan

So Julie Christie is the fave for Actress, right? Who here has seen this film?

I agree on the first sentence and I have to disagree on the second. My kids, my wife and I all really enjoyed Ratatouille. I thought it was remarkable how many great movies Brad Bird has made now.
