it says that Peanuts creator Charles Schulz made a cartoon named “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown…Worship It Before It Destroys You” and it involved all sorts of gross things like Charlie Brown getting dunked in a vat of acid, etc.
Huh?
Is this for real? Or is the author just yanking the reader’s chain? Anyone know anything more about this?
I am pretty sure that was one in a series called “Charlie Brown brings his gun to school”. Check with the Chicago Reader to see if they still have copies of it.
It’s a joke. Ken Begg at Jabootu.com is a seriously funny (Woohoo! Oxymoron!) writer; his reviews have literally had me in tears from laughter at times.
Notice that, in his list of Halloween Flicks, among other titles that begin with the phrase, “House Of . . .” he has “House of Pancakes,” with a link to the IHOP website.
There was a one-page parody in “Cracked” magazine awhile back…In the first Panel, Charlie Brown is calling Lucy from a payphone, telling her that he has good news and bad news…The good news is, Linus isn’t crazy, and that there really IS a Great Pumpkin. Lucy asks what the “bad news” is…
Cut to the third panel, which takes up most of the page…and features a giant Elder-God style Great Pumpkin, taking up most of the pumpkin patch, grabbing and consuming children as they pass by.
sigh You can’t buy memories like that. Good times, Good times…
