It's the last week for panic shopping in the MMP!

Grimace! Never heard it out that way but I like it!

Now I have an ear worm
warning grinchiness ahead
:notes: I wish you a merry grimace and zero fucks in the new year tra La La La La :notes:

Wait. They’re BACK? Day-um, that woman and her critters are harder to get rid of than the last drunk at a party. I really wish Cranky Old Guy would ban her for life. I wonder how the dog parks she used to frequent got rid of her. Maybe the people weren’t as nice as those at your dog park. Also, yay for Cerby’s improvements, and I hope Ripple’s wound heals soonest.

What a toll this ordeal has taken on you.

My fingers are already crossed. How’s your mom’s frame of mind?

@janis_and_c0, aww, thanks! Right back atcha!

Finally got the Tobester down for a nap. He was kinda tired this morning, and a bit snotty - the tail end of his cold, I guess. Anyway, the last of my laundry for the day is in the dryer and I’m taking a few moments to chill.

Well, I’m feeling more or less human today, but not really festive. Daughter is coming over tomorrow. SIL is working. The tree is decorated and we have some presents. I got online and bought Wifey 5 or 6 things, most of which were on her wish list, so not really surprises. I promised to take her shopping for a new recliner after Hexmas, so there’s that.
We’re not really feeling it.
Wifey has a PT appointment in The Dalles today and I’ll prolly go with to help with groceries.
That’s it.

Sorry to be a downer.

Later.

Can anyone recommend an entry-level mirror-less camera? A step-up from point and shoot. $500-$1000

Wish I could help you but cameras are mysterious, magical devices that always take close-up pictures of my feet or the inside of my pocket.

Jeep needs a jump. I called AAA, and they say that due to the extreme weather conditions, they don’t have a truck available. I called the towing company that tows the MG when it needs it, and they said that they can take care of it. They said to call AAA and tell them that, and AAA will send them my information.

Fingers crossed: A) That I get my jump start; and B) That the Jeep keeps running until I get to NAPA.

You might try the Canon Rebel line of cameras. It’s pretty much their bottom shelf SLR, but they’re good cameras.

They’re good enough for Russia to use in their drones.

Thank you, Pearl!

and welcome back. Are you staying?

Back from the vet. Ripple has all the same meds as before plus a new one. This vet thinks he might have a tumor and wants to check it out in two weeks. We have to clear up the infection first.
I feel tired.

After two years of being frustrated by my kitchen faucet, I have a nice one, arched high up so I can fit my pasta pot and roasting pan under it. It’s even got one of those fancy pull-out sprayers – ooh!

Now I gotta go soon to the Christmas party for work. They’re having it at a bowling alley, which got a bunch of 'em excited but me? Ugh. I hate bowling.

So I’m gonna make an appearance, see what snacks were brought, get out as soon as it’s decent. Still need to stop at Wally World for mini cupcakes and a gift card - there’s some sort of gift exchange but I have no idea if I’m giving to someone old, young, what gender, nada, so I got some random candy and a pack of those glow-stick thingies for whimsy.

Meh. The plumbers were early (by my standards) so I’m tired and cranky, like a toddler who needs a nap. Wonder why …

Ah, well. I treated myself to breakfast out after the plumbers left - I was up, after all - so the day had that bright spot.

Well, that and a nice new faucet.

I ended up at convenient care with a UTI. I gave them a specimen, they gave me abx. I’m just chilling at home. Laundry is going, Swedish meatballs for dinner. TWPTB are forecast major snow like up to 10” (that’s what she said) Thursday and Friday. That will give me time to wrap presents and make maple cookies for my sister for Christmas.

I have one of those and I :heartbeat: :heartbeat: :heartbeat: :heartbeat: it much!! I may even give one to my daughter because her sink faucet sucks.

I’ve returned Tobias to his parents and I stopped at Aldi for some bread and other stuff. Waitng for FCD to return from Baltimore. Tahred…

Lunch with my friend yesterday was awesome! The Nutcracker was…OK. Turns out it was a regional company’s production, with a lot of young-ish company members who had friends/family in the audience…and who treated the performance like it was a recital, with loud cheering and clapping after almost every lift, jump, pirouette, etc. It was a good enough show, but between the recital atmosphere and it lasting nearly 3 hours (with the intermission) I was definitely ready for it be over by the time it ended. I’d be willing to go see a truly professional production sometime, though, and my friend and I talked about trying to go to a different one next year. Meanwhile, we’ll be getting together again in just under a month: we’re going to a Sunday matinee of Wicked at the Kennedy Center, after treating ourselves to the brunch buffet at the KC’s Roof Terrace Restaurant.

My “nephew” and his girlfriend are up for going to the Museum of Illusions next week! Yay! And, afterwards we’ll meet up with his folks – my BFFs – to go see the trees at the White House and U.S. Capitol. It’s tradition for us to go see the trees, but the wife BFF has a compromised immune system and some mobility issues so we figure that going after Christmas should help a little with the crowds. We skipped it entirely last year. The BFFs are picking the evening that will work best for them and deciding what time we should all meet up, then I’ll work backwards to figure out which entry time to get museum tickets for (by all accounts it will only take 45-60 min to see everything). We’ll finalize everything sometime this week.

Just four more days of work this year… :calendar: :confetti_ball:

Starting with replies left over from the last thread:

Oh no! :frowning:

Thanks! Due to my weight loss surgery and the fact that I haven’t started any kind of strength training yet, I currently have neither padding nor muscle down there and my poor tailbone is unprotected for the first time in 51 years (I joke with my support group that surgery has literally been a pain in the ass  ). It’s been an issue for a few months now, but I have workarounds everywhere/for everything except typing on my iPad from my couch. Sometimes it seems to be getting better, but then I’ll sit the “wrong” way for a few minutes and pay for it! All things considered, though, if the worst part of being 80 pounds lighter is not posting or writing emails from my couch, it’s hard to complain.

It is super, super crappy for anyone to do that to anyone, let alone family. Those are the bastards it’s the hardest to build up real defenses against, too: you can know they’re going to let you down and still be hurt when it happens. Ugh.

That made me laugh out loud, too.

Could there have been a skunk outside? Sometimes that smells like coffee to me!

Oh how frustrating for both of you. :frowning:

Reminds me of the first time I went to Key West. It was January, and they were having a cold snap where the daytime highs only reached the upper 60s/low 70s: the locals were walking around in sweatshirts and jackets, while those of us who were visiting from DC were in shorts and flip-flops!

Everything but the wrapping.

I have a very small gift list, usually just my BFFs and their son. This year I also got something for his girlfriend, who is staying with them for the winter break, and some small things for my dad and brother (we agreed years ago that gifts are no longer expected, but they’re still allowed). I think I did OK by everyone. I’ll see my BFFs/my “nephew”/the gf on Christmas Eve, and will likely wrap all of their stuff that afternoon. I won’t see my dad and bro until the 26th, so I might “wrap” their stuff – i.e., stick them in tissue paper and gift bags – on Christmas Day.

Sigh. Sorry.

You don’t have to apologize to us for grieving. :mending_heart: I’m so sorry about Gibbs.

The forecast is now saying over a foot of snow from Thursday evening to Saturday morning. I will go to the sto’ tomorrow just in case I need to lay in a supply of chips and cookies.

Afternoon all. Have swam and sauna’ed and the scale at the gym says 269.6lbs, so now comes the task of staying below 270. I am going to switch to either Diet Pepsi or Pepsi Zero once I finish off my stockpile of Pepsi (still have 8 12-packs to go, so it’ll be awhile) and work toward 250lbs as a goal for 2023.

Wet one, bet the stores are packed today and tomorrow. But I can’t stockpile chips and cookies, my nibble-habits won’t allow for it.

Yep, you made remember the fours years I was in Abu Dhabi, it would get around 60F and all the arabs would huddle at home or bring out heavy coats, while I was still in shirt sleeves. Of course when it got to 110F…

Enjoy time with the BFF’s.

shoe, I have one of those too, they are nice to have. And for the party, you didn’t make any ‘special’ brownies? (if you have ever seen a certain old Episode of Barney Miller you know what I am talking about…  )

wet one, had to look up abx (antibiotic) so I have learned something new today-thanks! And get well soon.

Flyboy, hope Jeep is jumped and running OK now.

talkie, here’s hoping that Mom’sdoc visit brings good news for the season.

sari, best wishes for Ripple and for a drama-less (or at least less drama) 2023.

Godbod, nellie, guess I am an old dude, can’t imagine such a thing when I was in school (counting K-12 it was 1958-1971). But enjoy!

OK, time for TV (Pardon the Interruption) and thinking about going out to grab the evening meal. Take care now.

@Sahirrnee Imma try. Skritches for your doggos !

Irk was xtra irksome today. Hopefully the volume will die down as the holiday approaches. McDoogals is on the way! Then we’ll eat and light the menorah. Have a good evening!

ace, the taco chex mix sounds yummy.

godbod, the median age of Mumpers is somewhere in the fifties. Most of us didn’t get the opportunity experience PJ day.

Enjoy Hannukah pearl!

Irk was irksome today. Ever try to squelch three Amber alerts setting off multiple phones? Joy. Then, there were the tech issues. One of the things that I’m going to mention in the next iSpot meeting is setting up a maintenance schedule for the desktops that we use in production. A lot of our issues could be avoided if they did that.

Miss Ann is walking Della now and is working up to taking Charlie on (at separate times, of course). She liked the enchiladas that I took her last night and gave me back the dish today.

My holiday shopping is done except for one gift card from Scooters for the maintenance guy (he’s a coffee guy and a good maintenance guy, so I like to grease the skids around the holidays). Like metal mouse, it’s mostly adults at this point on my list and my family dropped adult gifts years ago.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I walked to the bank, the mall (not crowded), the grocery store, and the gym. I’m really, really tired and not sure why. My son called, since he couldn’t do so yesterday.

Lily, hope you and your wife get past the crud soon.

WetOne, UTI’s are miserable. Hope you recover fast. Also, nice post/username combo.
