It's the last week for panic shopping in the MMP!

O-Oh…no…God, I-I’m so sorry…
:people_hugging:

Howdy all. Been reading. Doogggiooo no words. I’m so sad.
FCM my goodness. No words.

{{{{Doggio}}}} I’ll miss the Gordie stories

{{{{FCM and family}}}} I hope you and FCD can get a good night’s sleep and that the medical team can help.

Hubby’s got something - he’s coughing a lot, but mostly feeling better than he did over the weekend. However this morning his headache was back. Hopefully staying hone will do him some good.

I am definitely ready for Christmas break. Except food shopping. Might be good to have something to eat.

Stay safe!

It looks like we won’t have much in the way of snow. The NWS says anywhere from 3" to 6". The bad part will be the cold, and the windchill. It’s not going to last long, though. Only a couple of days. So, that’s fine with me. I wish we could have more snow, though.

I’m so very sorry to hear this! I loved that boy! You have my most sincere condolences.

I wish you, and FCD, the very best. MIL, too. She’s got some hard decisions to make, and for FCD’s sake, and your sake, I hope that she makes the right ones.

Good morning, folks.
I hope we’re all doing ok. I know that’s difficult, in a lot of cases, though.

I was up stupid early, again. I’ve already made a batch of Rice Krispie Treats (Using generic choc. rice cereal), and I have two batches of regular Chex Mix in the oven. Hubs will take it with him, OTR, once he goes back to work, after his vacation. I’ll be keeping some in a gallon Ziploc, and the rest, I’ll probably vacuum seal it in quart jars. It’ll keep real well, that way. I even made a batch of Onion Spread. I’ve been busy. That happens when you drink a pot of coffee. I still need to clean the bathroom, and make one last batch of cake mix cookies. Then, I’m completely done!

I bought a couple packages of Milanesa (Top Round Steak, it says. Quite lean, too!) at the store the other day. I sliced it into strips, and I’m going to cook it in the Instant Pot, cover it with gravy, and serve it over mashed potatoes. That’ll be dinner, whenever hubs makes it home. I’ll make a side of green beans with it, too. Nice, easy, and hearty meal, I suppose.

Speaking of hubs, whenever he gets back here, he’s got to go straight to the hospital to get another blood workup done, before his ‘exploratory’ angioplasty on the 27th. He’ll have to go back for ANOTHER procedure, so they can put in stents, if they’re needed, instead of doing it on the 27th, while he’s there, and knocked out. He’ll be going to a consultation on the 30th, so the cardiologist can talk to him about what they’ll be doing. Why the hell are they calling it an angioplasty, when they’re just going in to look around, and not place stents?! I need to get past it, keep my nastyass mouth shut, and NOT have a rant at the cardiologist on the 27th, right there at the hospital. Ugh.

I suppose I need to go put my big girl panties on, and do what needs to be done around here, and quit whining.

Have a good one, folks.

MIL is sound asleep - the first good sleep she’s had in months. A snort of Nyquil probably helped. She was coughing as bad as I was.

I found out a few things last night talking to my poor, exhausted sweetie. The reason his mom is so dead set against a nursing home or any other facility is because FIL’s mother died in a nursing home. Except, she was 97 at the time. Apparently that’s not the point. And MIL insists she can still take care of him, except in the evening when he gets out of control or falls in the shower or whatever. The Dr in the ER said the dementia is advanced and FIL should be in a facility. Some time in the next day or two, FCD and his mom will be meeting with a social worker to discuss the situation. So we shall see.

It’s pretty much decided that if/when FIL goes into a facility, MIL will move in with us. Which means they’ll pay something like 2 months rent as a penalty to get out of the lease. But she can’t live alone and she couldn’t afford it anyway. And apparently BIL is slated for some time in a rehab facility, then he’s probably going to end up here, too. He’s on the waiting list for a subsidized apartment - no telling how long that will take.

And in all this mess, their house in Ocala still hasn’t sold. The stupid interest rate increases as well as the holidays kinda killed the market for a while. If any of you hear of someone looking to retire in Ocala, let me know…

I had a fairly decent sleep, tho I did wake coughing. Tobias is getting a shot and some blood work at 9 this morning so I won’t get him till later. That gives me time to run a few errands, which will include more Nyquil and some sort of cough suppressant.

I’ve also got to do some laundry - they brought some of MIL’s dirties last night. I’d say there’s a full day ahead. I think I’ll invite Daughter and Roxy for supper. I picked up a hunk o’ poke loin the other day. I’ll cover it in the good rub and rotiss it. Easy-peasy.

And so it begins. Happy Wednesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 42 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 51 and cloudy for the day. We shall procure provisions this mornin’. Hope the Pubix Sto’ is not so much a zoo. This afternoon we shall go help with the “greenin’” of the church. I’ll also deal with candles and such whilst there so I won’t have to go back before Sattidy. Did I mention we will do just one service for Christmas Eve at six o’clock? IP decided that would be the best thing all around since we are in an interim period. I am all for that as that meant I didn’t have to harrass ask folks to serve at two services. We shall swipe the General’s sup today.

Ace maybe the docs need to figure out if/how many stents may be needed first. Your sup idea sounds nummy.

Die hope the hubs is feelin’ better soonest.

MOOOOOOM they hits just keep on comin’ do they not! Hope the house in Ocala does go ahead and sell soonest. Hopefully the social worker will persuade MIL that a facility is the only alternative for FIL.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and bother of bothers, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire suitable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Life is just so difficult!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Got a snow storm coming in today; light, powdery stuff because of the cold. Then heavy winds behind it that will turn it into a blizzard. Should blow itself out by sometime Friday. I hope the roads get cleared by Sunday, as we’re supposed to travel for dinner.

@FairyChatMom
I am glad your FIL is getting help. FCD has done the best he could, but his dad need this.

@dogbutler
I am sorry about Gordie. He was a good boy

(((((Doggio))))) I am so sorry about Gordie, he was like our mumper mascot, he will be missed by all of us.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 8c/46f today with no predicted change, and it’s partly cloudy which means it’s also partly sunny. Weather app says “Partly cloudy? More like partly cloudy fucking bullshit”.

We finally had a mail delivery today, our postal union has called several strike days so getting anything delivered has been very hit and miss. I don’t send many xmas cards anyway, so it hasn’t really been much of a bother to me but I was waiting for a couple of gifts to arrive which came this morning so they’re wrapped up ready to be delivered to my pub friends tonight.

Also today I received a lovely card from the vets with a packet of forget-me-not seeds inside, as a way to remember Ophelia. We also had a couple of memory baubles from ‘im indoors’ sister which she made with some pics of Ophie inside so I’ll need to find somewhere for those to hang.

Moooom I’m glad FIL is safe in hospital, and finally getting assessed properly for the dementia. I can understand MIL’s sentiments about a nursing home but obviously circumstances are quite different for them and it would be the best outcome for them both if he was in a facility where he could get proper care. Hopefully she will come round to the idea, but the reality it that the decision is likely to be taken out of her hands.

ace I hope the hub’s doc visits go well and he gets whatever treatment he needs. And I hope you don’t have to rant at the cardiologist too!

Not a lot of excitement in my day, I have to go grocery shopping this afternoon and I’m out with friends tonight so that will be fun. Other than that, I’ve got no plans so I foresee an afternoon on the sofa cuddling Shadow as he seems to demand my lap as soon as I sit down these days.

I somehow missed this earlier. I am so very sorry. Gordie was a Very Good Dog.

Morning all. Sounds like us lot of us are having a less-than-stellar week. More squishy hugs and some prayers going up for whoever needs em. Irk has been especially irksome (don’t get me started) I can’t wait for my 3 day weekend. Although last time we had one we had to work 4 10s (did I mention I hate my job) I am really hoping that wont be the case this time but tptb have been known to change their minds at the last minute (yep. Hate my job)

The latkes turned out rather disasterous but they were tasty. I has a blurf. Happy hump day.

PS yup my name is a nod to the late great Janis Joplin (and Big Brother) I’ve used some form of it online forever and would most likely turn around if someone yelled Hey Janis in the street.

El Jefe sent a message through [Company] Emergency Alert Text System saying that the office is open today. Yes, that’s [Company] EATS. (My cow-orkers are very food-motivated.)

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 31 degrees and snowing. We have a mere dusting on the ground at the moment. It’s supposed to snow most of the morning but will taper off. We’ve already reached the projected high temp for today. All the snow fell north of us and over on the Kitsap Peninsula. I was ripped off.

doggio, I am very sorry about Gordie and sad because I felt I had gotten to know him pretty well too. I will miss the Gordie stories. I am sending you hugs.

FCM, all my best to you and the family. The upcoming placement for your FiL will be hard, but I am very relieved this moment has arrived. It’s been a very long three months for you and FCD. You know better than all of us, but there is no way your sweetie could have kept up this crazy middle-of-the-night dash to the apartment schedule, plus running the folks around to all their appointments. Take care, my friend.

I had to waste the day yesterday sitting around waiting to be told funding documents were ready for me to approve and sign. I was kind of annoyed, but on the other hand, it puts another project behind me. The movers that had to cancel at the beginning of the month will now come to the Wenatchee office on Thursday to remove and dispose of the temporary furniture. This whole project has been such a PITA. The new furniture will (according to the last update) probably be installed sometime after 13 January.

Today I will be hitting the stores to knock out the last of the Christmas shopping. It needs to get done because tomorrow I have a hair appointment, and Friday, I pick up the roast. I still haven’t heard if, and when I need to pick up my son for Christmas, so I am assuming the news for the Jeep isn’t good, and he’s in a dark spot right now. I hope I’m wrong and that the Jeep is actually in the shop, and he’s just waiting to pick it up.

I hope you all have a good or at least peaceful day. So many of us are struggling with various things and think we all just need a day that gives us some peace.

Well, that was a wasted non-trip. I got stuck in non-moving traffic with no options to turn around and I sat on Rt 5 for about half an hour. When things finally got moving, I took the first U-turn and came home. Tobias just arrived and the fun is about to begin.

Morning all. Still relatively mild (46F heading for 53 and no rain), but the real cold stiff is due in about 24 hours and will drop us into the single digits for my drive to my brother’s on Firday. Swimming and Sauna are planned for today, and we’ll see what else I can be up to.

FCM, I hope things work out, but with MIL and Brother both at the house and kids and other family…stay strong.

boo fae, that was awful nice of the Vets, and our postal union isn’t strong enough to strike, but things can be slow anyways.

ace, Docs aren’t always right, ask questions if you have them, it’s your right.

BBBoo, glad the wipers got installed, need to be checking mine here soon. Probably get the oil changed when I get back from Xmas and maybe have them check it out.

OK, need to break my fast and figure out what I need to do tomorrow pre-departure. Take care all.

MIL is still in bed. She’s catching up on lots of lost sleep. Yes, FCD did check on her.

Tobias and I are in the basement. I’ve got a load in the washer and one more to go. So lots of fun on tap.
