Abels & Heymann frankfurters.
Me, too!
I’ve liked Nathan’s and Hebrew National in the past, but nowadays I’m a Gilbert’s girl.
We have the best natural casing hot dogs and cooneys on the planet made here in Central NY (Buffalo, Western NY, has their own). I keep hearing rumours our dogs are going to go national. Oh, they are scrumptious, the best! Nathans and Hebrew National will do in a pinch, but they are poor, overly salty B-listers in comparison. As for Oscar Meyer, Ballpark, or any other skinless thing, I suppose they’re good for filling up the empty stomaches of 8 year olds at a birthday party.
Didn’t we just do this?
Anyway, not too long ago I was craving a good dog, and my wife asked the local butcher what he recommends.
Ambassador’s. I love 'em. The casings have a nice strong snap to 'em, and they are so juicy and tasty I can’t get enough. Never heard of them before, and I don’t know how widely available they are, but they are worth checking out if you can, IMO.
wrap it in a crescent roll with x sharp cheese and bake for 20 minutes, any dog will do
I don’t know much about specific brands of dogs, beyond that natural casing is best. But I do know that the absolute best condiment ever to grace a sausage is Bertman Ballpark Mustard.
Rudi Lechners on Gessner and Westheimer. Get the sausage sampler, the bratwurst is the one I’m referring to, but the Polish and knackwurst are also really good.
I don’t really have a preference. I don’t even remember the last time I had a hot dog.
Being in DC, a chili half-smoke is the closest I’ll get if I’m in the mood for that sort of thing.
I mustard have missed it.
Thank you
Capt
Dubuque brand, but I don’t know if they’re still being made.
earl campbell hot links
Um… “coneys”?
Or maybe these dogs are made in the hills from those furry critters that wear little eyemasks.
I’m not picky about brand, but natural casing is a requirement. Also, try putting natural casing hot dogs on the smoker for an hour. Holy moly, they’re amazing.
Try to ketchup, will ya?
Oh, wise guy, eh?
And my real favorite Dearborn Brand frank are their red hots, which for some reason aren’t listed online. Those things will make your eyeballs sweat.
