I didn’t think you could top the outrageous distortions of your posts in this thread to date, but your sheer gall with this one is breathtaking. I have looked very closely at the first 800 posts – all I can stomach so far – and besides yourself, only 4 posters out of more than 120 separate posters have defended Paterno’s actions. A bunch more, about 60, have commented in one way or another without directly addressing whether Peterno had any responsibility at all, and more than 60 have found explicit fault with Peterno’s actions, or more correctly his lack of action.

Please, name some names of people supporting your POV. The ones I’ve found so far are brickbacon, Fotheringay-Phipps, jtgain, and Da Mikster.

Because you and one or two of the other gents (hope that’s right) have been polite about “man this is over but keep going if you’d like,” rather than the “you stupid fuckers need to stop feeding the troll” that you sometimes see, I’ll give an apologia here.

To be clear – I do not expect to persuade SA. There are lesions beyond any of our ability to deal with.

So why do I keep posting?

A decent respect for the opinions of mankind obliges me to proffer this.

(1) It’s not much trouble. Intellectually, his positions are preposterous and it takes thirty seconds to formulate a spot-on reply.

(2) I’m a bit of a goof-off and though I was working today, writing these responses was the guilty pleasure equivalent of checking Drudge every thirty minutes between work tasks. Plus, my football teams have been out of the race for weeks, so Saturdays in particular are a bit vacant for me.

(3) I have been sufficiently horrified by the Catholic Church events and now this scandal that I have concluded there cannot be too much attention paid to the very specific details of pedophile exploitation, and the various specific details and patterns of grooming, for my good. It’s easy to say it’s RO and all good people reject the pedophile-apologist arguments. The reality is that lots of middle of the road people have written hall passes on pedophile behavior. Or underestimated the perversity of boy-diddlers like Sandusky and SA.

(4) Pedophiles and their enablers are sociopaths. They are very good liars. They have fooled lots of well-meaning but naiive people.

(5) The Catholic Church thing changed me forever. So will this one. I know now new patterns of grooming, exploitation, excuses, and lies. I want to bump and keep this front and center so the good but naiive (like me) people here recognize when an evil troll such as SA is parroting pedo rationale. I want no one to think that naked man boy showering is unsuspicious. I want no one to gloss over when a ten year old boy is staying in an old man’s hotel room mano a mano.

(6) The further I’ve pushed, the further out on a limb SA has gotten. He has not yet admitted (and won’t) that he wrote those PennLive posts, but he’s gone from pretending that he was defending only Paterno to stating a full-out defense of Sandusky, who’s a fucking death-eligible evil person par excellence. In the course of doing this, he’s exposed his further and further unhinged personality. I’ve had the gratifying experience of seeing middle-of-the-road after middle-of-the-road poster saying, in response to the insane reactions I’ve provoked from SA, say, holy crap, at first I thought this was a partisan pissing match between Huerta and SA, but on reading closer, there’s something really f’d up with SA, and I don’t even like Huerta. The converse has not occurred at all.

(7) This serves the purpose of further marginalizing him on this board. After his enormities in this thread, no one will ever take him seriously. No one. Which may make him go away or otherwise remove himself from circulation (skirting around the Pit rules, I do not care how he removes himself from circulation, but I know my preference). I will gladly stick around to turn off the lights as rational poster after rational poster ignores him. Maybe then he might go away or do the otherwise needful. He’s clearly a tortured soul, my refusing to put up with or indulge his lying insanity might just push him over the edge (confession: part of my harshness is not having any sympathy for the insane, whom I think have a lot of volition in their choice to indulge the demons).

(8) As a personal indulgence, I don’t mind the unintended side effects of attacking a self-proclaimed “conservative.” (Child rape is the least conservative cause in existence). I post outside GD (where my right of the right politics have, if anywhere, gotten animus against me) because I find it interesting, but also because I am not a one trick pony. I know a Hell of a lot about college football and old Catholic guys acting badly with boys. Why wouldn’t I post on this? It’s just like how I’ve spent my last six months posting largely in Cafe Society about delicious food and beer topics. I enjoy getting to know guys like Johnny LA and Chefguy. I have no idea if they admire or respect my opinions, but by going beyond my paleocon GD topics, I hope maybe I get some Strange Newfound Respect for my sincerity for my non-partisan posts. And child abuse is not, or should not be, remotely a partisan issue.

My position is very simple:

A.) We don’t know for a fact that Jerry Sandusky was anally raping that boy when McQueary happened upon them.

And,

B.) We don’t know for a fact that Joe Paterno ever intended the incident to be covered up, or that he intentionally did the “bare minimum” in hopes that the incident would go away, or that he knew Jerry Sandusky was committing genuine acts of sex abuse with children on campus or anywhere else.

These two facts are incontrovertible, and none of my opponents in this thread have offered anything but supposition and guesswork to counter them.

This puts them in a quandry when their assumptions are challenged. They have no facts at their disposal, and, realizing their position is weak and essentially indefensible, they attempt a number of other defenses intended to portray me variously as a pedophile, pedophile enabler, pervert, child rape fantasizer, etc., all in a frantic desperate effort to undercut my arguments because they don’t have a single fact to back up their allegations. Failing that, they attempted to get me banned, and now that that hasn’t worked, a move seems to be gathering steam to attempt to portray me as mentally or lifestyle deficient in some way in the apparent belief that this will somehow invalidate my arguments.

So to them I’ll say this: I’ll give you all your accusations. I’ll grant that I’m a pedophile, a pedophile enabler, and a child rape fantasizer who has no life and is crazy to boot, and it still won’t prove that: a.) Jerry Sandusky was anally raping that boy when McQueary came upon them; b.) Joe Paterno knowingly and with aforethought sought to cover up or disappear McQueary’s allegations, or that he knowingly turned a blind eye to Sandusky’s sexual exploitation of children.

FWIW, after reading his posts in this thread, I do not think SA is merely a pedophile enabler.
