Really, at this point we might as well move to the execution phase of the trial.
Quoted today on the radio, Mrs. Sandusky stated " He may have a personality disorder. "
Oh. You think? That’s a tremendous and comprehensive excuse. Adult man makes a lifelong hobby of fucking small boys in the ass and then points his finger at them and says they’re just testifying against him for the money and his wife comes up with this little gem? A Personality Disorder" ?
It’d be funny were it not so very sickening.
However that may be, he’s still going to spend the little of what’s left of his worthless life either in constant abject terror of the other inmates, or in protective solitary going gradually mad. IOW, a life not entire unlike that of his victims.
GOOD.
The defense followed that up by asking if his mom ever noticed blood on his clothes or if he ever sought medical attention because of the bleeding. The witness answerd “no” to both of those. I’m not saying that makes it any better, but there was apparently some reason for asking the question.
The details on the jury are unnerving. So many of the primary and backup jurors work at Penn State / graduated from Penn State/ have family working at Penn State that it is hardly a fair trial.
Now, the rule is a jury of your peers. Right? So they’ve found and vetted locals who were eligible. It does not mean that they are not deeply prejudiced towards the culture and power that is that University.
I pray he doesn’t walk. I pray he does a lot of time. In isolation. But there is a very real chance that by way of “making up” for the perceived injustice of firing Paterno, that jury will let him walk.

That makes very little sense. They’re just as likely to throw him in the slammer for what he did to Joe Pa.
Tough call. They might well want to cut him loose to protect the school. After all, if a jury finds him not guilty, he didn’t do anything.
Right?

The perpetual blowjob for Paterno and Penn State football isn’t universal and never has been. Yeah, it’s a football factory; no one’s ever denied that. But there are people who have a connection to the university who don’t give a tin shit about football, or who even have outright antipathy toward it.
And if you use an association with Penn State as the sole criterion for juror exclusion, you need to have a jury of people who aren’t from here, and who haven’t been here long. Pennsylvania is lousy with Penn State graduates and people who work for Penn State or one of its affiliated facilities, like Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (Penn State’s medical school). You can’t assume that they all love Joe Paterno, the football program, or even Penn State itself.

Right?
More likely, I think an acquittal would create a huge nationwide scandal and seriously damage the reputation of the school. More so, I mean. I think the PSU folks want to clean up the mess (finally) and distance themselves from the bad people.

Speaking of which, where has our celebrated experimenter gotten off to? Family members walked in to find him making rough love to the Brawny guy and had him forcibly committed?
I understood everything in these two sentences except the reference to ‘the Brawny guy’. Could you explain? I suppose it must be some reference to bog rolls but I don’t get it.

I really, really, really don’t recommend you wade into all the crazy that’s been spewed on this thread, but if you must…
Look up “paper towel tube” on Starving Artist’s posts in this thread, and you’ll read some of the most bizarre, disturbing stuff you’ve ever encountered about physics, man-boy love, and educating the next generation on proper showering techniques.
ETA: Well, I guess I’ll add a link to that particular post. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Only for people as psychotic as Sandusky himself. If you go with the more likely assumption, that PSU alums etc. are on the whole as normal as anyone else, then the opposite is more likely true. They’re *more *likely than the less-connected to be outraged at what was done on and by their beloved school, to children who could have been their own, and therefore angrier and more determined to eradicate the stain on the institution they’re so proud of.
Cutting Sandusky loose wouldn’t protect the school at all; it would actually make it much harder for the school to get this horror behind it. If a jury acquits, hell yes, he still did it and everyone knows it, except for those living in Brickerland.

What did Bricker do? That’s a bit of a low blow, isn’t it?
He’s quite proud of putting the law above common sense. His loyal defenses of the child-raping Roman Catholic Church do not speak well for him, either.
I have a question: is Football WORTH this? This pervert was allowed to run wild, for years…and the common denominator was (it seems to me)-he was a winning coach!

Don’t drag him into this thread.

I do so enjoy seeing this SDMB meme grow like a bacteria. This must have been what Pasteur felt like when he watched milk curdle.

Don’t drag him into this thread.
(looking for the “Mod Hat ON” note, not seeing it)
His defenses of child-raping institutions, and the warped legalism-above-all attitude that the person I was responding to (who is not you, btw) showed, already put him in this thread.
Now, if you have something constructive or even just entertaining to offer here, you may begin at any time.

This is just bald-faced dickery. This isn’t a thread about “child-raping institutions”, it’s 3000 fucking posts about Penn State, Joe Paterno, and and Sandusky.
If you want to pit Bricker, there’s like fifteen threads for that, or you could open a new one. But dropping into a thread with only tenuous connections to make hyperbolic accusations towards another poster is pathetic, and would be thread-shitting, if it were possible to thread-shit what is already a festering latrine.
