iTunes isn't recognizing songs played on my iPod in times played.

I just got a new computer and my iTunes is set back to zero times played for all of my music, which isn’t a big deal, but it is a little funny. Anyway, I’ve discovered that if I listen to music on shuffle on my iPod, and then sync it, the songs I listened to aren’t updating as having been played on iTunes. A couple songs I listened to intentionally, ie, I wanted to hear those songs and I went directly to them on my iPod, and they do show as having been played once.

So, not a major problem in the grand scheme of things, but I have to wonder if there’s some setting I can’t find that’s doing this. Any ideas? Or is it just iTunes being the brilliant piece of software it is?

Had this problem, and then I realized: I didn’t really have to know. So i turned off a lot of the options under “View Options”.

See? Apple did me a favor. I no longer worry about the popularity of my songs, or the ratings, or the sample rate, or “Last Skipped” or the category. I just listen…

I believe the play count only updates if you have the iPod set to sync automatically.
