iTunes question.

Apparently, I’m an idiot…because I can’t figure out how to do this…

I want to download the songs that I purchased at work to my home computer (which is legal to do. I’m supposed to be able to download them to 3 computers. work is 1, home would be 2. I should be able to put them somewhere else, too, but for right now, two computers is enough.) . Which seems simple enough, but it won’t let me. It will let me re-buy the songs… but I don’t want to do that. When I go to the Advanced menu and choose Check for Purchased music, it tells me I’ve downloaded everything that I’ve bought.

Which I did. At work. But not here on this computer. How do I do that? It’s a PC, should that matter.

By what medium are you transferring the songs from your work computer to your home computer? By e-mail? By iPod?

You can’t re-download the songs you bought for free. Just copy the files from one computer to the other (CD-ROM, floppy disk, carrier pigeon, whatever), authorize the second computer, and you’re good to go.

If you want, go to iTunes’ preferences, select “Burning”, then choose “Data CD” for the format. You can then make a playlist with all the songs you’ve bought and burn it, which will give you a CD with the actual files.
