I just acquired a used iPod (I know, I know, but I got it for trade, no cash changed hands). I have a few songs on my iTunes that I bought, from iTunes. But for some reason, it refuses to transfer all but one album to my “new” iPod. I’ve only ever authorized 3 computers: home, work, and original iPod. I pulled down the Store menu and clicked on “Authorize Computer.” It went through, took my password, but still says I have successfully authorized 3 of my 5 computers. No progress; still won’t let me put them on the newPod.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Barring burning them all to discs and reloading them (I really don’t want to do that), anyone gone through this before? Thanks.
I’m pretty sure iPods don’t count against your authorization limit, anyway: Apple’s delighted if you want to buy 752,811 of them and load your music on all of them.
I suspect that the iPod is still “tied” to it’s old computer; if you haven’t already done so, do a format (“restore to original settings”) and try again.
I figured it out. The computer I was working on has three different hard drives, which are counted, apparently, as different computers. I consolidated all my music files into one place and the problem went away.
