I've decided to become Republican.

Well, not really. But, I’m voting for one.

Tom Campbell for US Senate. I really like his policy on drugs, plus I hate Dianne Fienstein. Interesting fellow. He also supports the green canidate, tried to get her in the debates, Finestein wouldn’t let him though.

doesn’t take much to do better than Feinstein…

damn right

Well, if he’s got good policies you agree with, I guess I can forgive you this one time… just please don’t make a habit of this. Who will be my favorite rabid acid weasel eared flaming commie pinko socialist if you go respectable on me? Remember, friends don’t let friends vote Republican…

Dammit, Old’ems, this means I have to become a Democrat now…

I guess it’s time to turn in the ol’ .45 for a bong… hey, this gig ain’t so bad after all!!!

ACK! Don’t do that! You scared me for a second there. A Republican? My husband and I have been debating and sometimes arguing with each other for the last couple of weeks because all of a sudden, out of the clear blue sky, my husband decided he wants to be a Republican. My family have been staunch Democrats since almost the beginning of the party’s formation (at least it seems like that). Republicans are sacrified to Cthulhu in my family to appease him. They are branded and forced to wear large, scarlet colored letter “R”'s. I still haven’t told my family yet. My parents seem to like him and I think they would be a little sad as they were burning him at the stake.

Well, I’m no democrat. But, if you want to vote Green, be my guess.

But I mean, come on, Diane looks like a Chicago Mob Boss, and is just plain unlikeable. I can honestly say that tom campbell would be far preferable.

My dad, who’s a crazy liberal, is voting for Campbell too. Tomorrow it will rain pigs.

My dad’s ranting againt Feinstein (she is a supporter of the flag burning amendment, which infuriates him to no end) has convinced me not to vote for her, but not enough to vote Republican. I’m voting for Medea Benjamin, the Green candidate. I dig her name.

Illinois had a Democratic Senator who was, simply put, an embarassment. But not enough to get me to vote for her opponent, who won anyway. The funny thing is that the Republicans could have nominated a candidate who would have won handily, as a moderate Republican in a moderate state, but they chose the more conservative candidate who had to fight to win. Hell, yellow-dog-Democrat-I would have happily voted for the other woman.

yeah. I have problems with Campbell. But, he’s a really nice guy, and damnit I hate Feinstein. I’ve thought of voting for Benjamin, but I feel a stronger message will be sent by voting for Campbell. Plus, I’ll be one of like 10 people in SF voting for him. Good for you, not voting for Feinstein. She was also a big supporter of Suharto.

Aside from her looks (and why would you vote on the basis of someone’s looks?), why don’t you like her?

I should have said she reminds me of a mob boss. Here whole demeanor.
As for why not vote for her? Aside from supporting a ruthless genocidal dictatorship, supporting a flag-burning amendment (both of which Campbell opposed/oppoeses). Here’s why, from http://www.sfbg.com

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who was the best friend of real estate developers and landlords when she was mayor of San Francisco, has developed a high national profile in the Senate. She was on everyone’s short list as a Democratic vice presidential candidate. But her record hasn’t improved a bit: She’s still pro-big business, and now she’s pro-big military and pro-globalization. And she supports almost every repressive crime bill that comes before her.

Her record on defense and foreign policy includes voting for the $1.7 billion drug war military aid package to Columbia, supporting a national missile defense system, backing unfair trade laws like “NAFTA for Africa,” and supporting China’s admission to the World Trade Organization. She also voted to eliminate the estate tax, which would benefit wealthy Americans like Feinstein and her financier husband, Richard Blum, who are estimated to be worth more than $50 million (making her the fifth richest member of Congress). She voted for “Three Strikes” mandatory sentencing and strongly supports the death penalty.

Feinstein earned a 100 percent 1999 voting record from the League of Conservation Voters, but her environmental record is far from perfect. Her Quincy Library bill Ð which she touts as an environmental achievement Ð increased logging in three national forests and was opposed by more than 100 green groups across the country. She also supported exemptions to the ban on the ozone-destroying chemical methyl bromide, heavily used in California.

Im leaving to go vote in 20 minutes. Tom Campbell will be the only republican to make it on my ballot too, and for the same reasons you mentioned. BTW, Im also voting yes on Prop 36. Hope the rest of you Californias are as well.

i love you stuffinb. Now just go and vote Nader too.
