I've decided to retire my truck

I’ve posted many times about my Envoy Denali’s troubles but now it’s gotten to the point where I cannot keep the oil pressure up at a idle once it has warmed up. Pretty sure the oil pump will completely fail any day now. Dammit, I love that truck but its old and time for a new one. What I need is a simple vehicle to go from here to there. We’ve downsized our dogs (meaning small breeds now) and I have a spare car for the fun driving in the Colorado mountains. That one I’ll keep as the emergency OMG-I’m-late-for-work-and-the-battery-is-dead car. May replace it in a few years but I’m getting ahead of myself.

I’ve decided on a RAV4 Hybrid with the ruby flare exterior ($425 upcharge) and the nutmeg seats. Ordering today and I’ll update this thread in 4 to 6 months when it is delivered.

4-6 months seems so long.

What mileage does the RAV4 Hybrid get?
My RAV4 with my heavyish foot only gets about 26 mpg. Extremely reliable vehicle though.

40 to 50 mpg depending on highway vs city driving.

Wow, that’s great. Almost up to my old Prius’s level.

Our 2021 regular Rav4 gets 35-36 all the time and easily gets over 40 on the few short trips we have taken. Love that 8 speed transmission.

I suspect I’ll drive in Eco mode on my commute through Denver traffic and might get above 50 mpg.

Total disappointment. Saw one online that was literally perfect and not listed as sold. I was an error on the website - it was reserved being picked up tomorrow or Saturday.

I’ve always been curious about those beater trucks you see in questionable rural car lots with “$500!!!” written on the windshield in soap. I’ve always wanted a truck just for house stuff, but I’m certain these things are sold specifically for unregulated “farm use” and would never pass a Maryland inspection without a total ground up rebuild.

I got a Mustang from a car lot that was like that. Couldn’t pass smog but so I flipped it for a profit to a shadetree mechanic.
