Okay, if you’re interested in Alias, have you checked out the La Femme Nikita TV series? Alias ripped it off as far as I can tell, and LFN was better. Five seasons available on Netflix.
Fair enough. A lot of my post was negative but I suppose that was mostly to get a prospective viewer in the mindset of forgiving some flaws to let it grow on them - overall, I’d recommend it. At it’s worst, it’s cringeworthy, but at its best it’s still some of the best TV ever made.
It’s still the only TV show that I know of that wasn’t basically an attempt to make stuff up on the fly and keep going as long as possible - the 5 year story was planned and written before it ever reached production, mostly by one man. It’s still unique in that way.
Alias started out fairly entertaining but fell pretty quickly into the realm of the absurd. Its inner tension (agent-double agent-triple agent) lost credibility as curves and twists are thrown at you just for fun and make no sense, and then it goes into this weird sci-fi/fantasy kick later on that makes even less sense. You can enjoy this as a 24-style of absurd, but on the whole, it’s utterly forgettable eye-candy.
I never got into B5-can’t say why other than my preference for lone-wolf type semi-anti-heroes, which explains my preference for Farscape and why (getting back on topic) I will often tune into 24 despite how angry the Idiot Plots make me, as Kiefer really sells you on the role no matter what kind of nonsense he has to deal with.
