What a sick, worthless, contemptible waste of space this guy is:
That’s absolutely vile. I just can’t imagine the mindset of someone who would do such a thing. I’d have to accept being celibate, was it me.
Ya know between this, the sick bitch that molested an 8 year old boy and all the horrible news stories with people killing their own family members this week I am about ready to resign from the human race.
Fuck
The dude is a sociopath who needs to be put away, but in 2004, those women who consented to unprotected sex are equally responsible for their condition. There is just no excuse for barebacking during casual sex, i don’t care how smooth the guy is. “No glove, no love” is a good rule for a reason.
Yeah, this guy is very sick. Related question:
“Health officials said as many as 170 people may have been exposed to the virus because of Whitfield’s actions, counting subsequent partners of women he slept with. No additional people have tested positive for HIV, **but 45 refused to be tested ** or couldn’t be found.”
My understanding is that you are supposed to notify your partners (by law?) that you are HIV positive. Do these “refusers” have to notify their current partners that they’ve been exposed and refused to be tested?
Shall I go ahead and start the death penalty debate? Or will this spin into the jail justice debate? Maybe an SUV bashing thread?
Place your bets.
What’s the point of trying for the Death penalty in this case? The perp is not likely to live long enough for the penal system to actually execute him.
More seriously, the scary thing about this is that it’s not exactly a unique crime - there was a similar case in NY a few years ago. I think there is a sense that some people who get STD’s of any kind, blame the whole gender that they got the disease from, not just the individual. IIRC, there is some reason to believe that one thing that reinforced Hitler’s anti-semitism was that he got syphillis from a Jewish (or presumed Jewish) prostitute.
I dunno, Magic is doing pretty well these days.
Well, the perp has been diagnosed with HIV for almost as long as Magic, and I think (not certain, I’ll admit) that they’re both pushing the envelope for survival after diagnosis.
Though, if I had HIV I’d almost prefer to be in prison where they’d be scheduled to give me my meds at the proper times. I have a hard enough time remembering my own one daily dose of medication. :smack:
You could be right. Though, I’m not sure anyone is expecting Magic to make it another 10 years.
Remember, Magic was an exceptionally fit person before he got HIV and is most likely receiving the best medical treatment money can buy…I doubt if this guy ends up on death row, his care would be comparable.
I don’t mean for this to be a hijack and ask only because the apparent motive of the person in my question so closely appears to mirror this Whitfield jackass. There was a story going around a decade or so back, at least in the Dallas area, of a woman that was sexually promiscuous and would leave a message written in lipstick on the bathroom mirror of her partner the morning after a night of lovemaking. The message was “Welcome to the world of AIDS” and made it appear that out of anger at her plight she was trying to in like manner infect others with what had ruined her life.
Has anyone else heard this story? I strongly suspect it’s an urban legend but would appreciate any insight on it’s veracity.
I’m with you.
Thank you, lola. Your link provided a fair bit of insight into what might possibly motivate a person to exhibit such horrible behavior. Insight, but never an understanding.
I can’t find the link, now (Nushawn Williams stopped being news back after setencing in 2000, I think.) but the DA certainly made it clear that the belief for his actions was in part revenge. Whether the DA is right is another thing altogether, and IIRC Williams was sentenced at least as much for his tendency to prey on young teens as for infecting them with HIV. :dubious:
There was a similar case in Canada back in… oo, early 90s, IIRC. In that case some of the infected women had insisted on condoms (despite his lies and assurances that he was healthy) and testified in court that the guy had torn them off during sex thereby exposing them to HIV.
Ssenyonga was charged with knowingly infecting three Ontario women with HIV while under a public health order banning him from having sex (he infected many others, but they were before the public health unit actively tried to stop him.) He died before his trial was over, and IIRC, the judge refused to rule.
In any case, even those who adhere wholeheartedly to “no glove, no love” are at risk if the guy is morally bankrupt to the point where he will practically go out of his way to infect people.
I once went to a talk by a woman who had HIV. She said that she had been quite promiscuous in her youth, but had been infected by one particular man who got HIV and decided to go out in a blaze of glory by infecting as many women as he could.
It’s a second hand anecdote, but it’s enough to make me believe that people out there will really do things like this on purpose.
(This is my very first post ever. As a guest. Please don’t hurt me.)
I’ve been following this case in the papers and on TV here (the Seattle area). Do you know that today there was no TV coverage of the conviction? There’s actually been minimal coverage of the whole case.
(I watched the early news, the 6pm news, and part of the 10 pm news. Anything later, I missed.)
Nothing to add to the thread, but hello, Merry. Welcome to these Boards. Don’t worry, you won’t get bitten unless you post something unusually fatuous or inflammatory. OK, now give me your lunch money.
