Huh. I didn’t have trouble. I pressed Ctrl-F, typed in the word “forget,” and your post showed in the dropdown before I pressed enter.
Just wondering if it’s not working that way for you, or if that’s the search you’re complaining about.
That’s part of it. More often than not, when using CTRL F, I get 0 hits. If I use the magnifying glass icon and select “search this thread”, I do get a bunch of results, but it’s not really that useful to me getting returned that way. That may just be my personal preferneces, though. I do know that I’m not the only one having issues with the new board’s search functions. There are plenty of other things I dislike about that search, but I do like the new board overall.

I think part of my bitch about scrolling on SDMB is the beginning of every board, and all the pinned messages at the top. The thumbnail for each message is beaucoup lines, so you do a LOT of scrolling scrolling scrolling (“keep those dogies rolling”) before you even get to the topics!
I’m just crabby.
But @Beckdawrek , you are absolutely right. I got my Mr VOW right next to me, and that is priceless. He’s half my heart and soul, and I wouldn’t function very well without him.

You can unpin a thread by clicking, well, at the pin.
But that’s the thing. Those should do the same thing. Because normal Ctrl-F doesn’t work, Discourse hijacked that shortcut to make it redirect to a quick site search. If it’s not doing that for you, then there’s something up.
That’s kinda why I was asking. I thought maybe you were getting a degraded experience. What browser do you use? And what version? And which theme? And OS?
