I've never been in trouble with the law but I wanna be

I don’t know about this at all:

This guy is in a lot of trouble after saying things he may or may not have meant to a would-be counsellor type of person. He was in a chat situation. What I’ve wanted to ask for a long time is: How vulnerable are people on this board who wish to discuss their experiences with drugs? They are not speaking but typing and the words are stored. How does it work?

Yeah, the automatic url coding doesn’t like comas.

Try adding the {url} and {/url} tags (using brackets - [ and ] - instead of the {}'s) for the link… like this:

Thanks so much. I did learn HTML awhile back but I’m so lethargic, apathetic, lazy and all those words that I just never read up on how to use it here.

By the way… you may want to ask a mod to edit-out your second post. Posting copyrighted material is a no-no, and we’d hate to see ya get in trouble.

Anyway, my thoughts… (I hit Reply too quickly)…

I think that it’s important for people to be aware of possible dangers around them (everyone says that the shooters of Columbine and the kid in San Diego had talked about the deeds beforehand), but they should also keep in mind a certain level of realism… for example, the one kid who had a paper gun (a paper-fucking-gun!) and got charged with “making terrorist threats”… that’s just kind of ridiculous.

But what about drugs - right here right now?

Well, that depends. Whatcha got?

Sure there’s an element of risk in talking about it. I wouldn’t be terribly concerned about it, though.

I have some Kava Calm but I haven’t got any needles - I totally disaprove of knitting.

Drugs are like traffic accidents… unless the cops have some definitive proof that you HAVE used them or are CURRENTLY in possession of them, there’s not much you can do about it. Murder, on the other hand, is a far more serious crime… it irrevokably violates the rights of another living person (drugs don’t necessarily do that).

However, I’m sure a VERY anal person can come across someone saying “I have a dime bag” and use that to try to alert the proper authorities… but that’s such a minor offense I doubt the police would try to do anything about that.

On the other hand, if someone were to repeatedly say “I’m shipping 800 kilos of crack” or somesuch, word may indeed get back to the authorities and a rather large drug bust may indeed result from it.

Someone saying “I’m stoned right now!” is like someone walking into a police station and saying “I just spat on the sidewalk! Arrest me!” The cops just won’t care… (unless, as I said, they’re very anal).

First post fixed and second post deleted.

Spoofe Bo Diddly: Well, it certainly seems like it’s ok to say what you want on the Internet. It seems like I haven’t become a four course meal for market researchers, or potential prey for virtual virus workers. It seems like my name has not been registered by the FBI. It sure seems like it. But I don’t know. Law enforcers are very opportunistic aren’t they? There has been a law passed in this country outlawing drug paraphenalia so you’d expect the head shop in the middle of the business district would have closed down. The police don’t seem to care - until it suits them to of course.

I know that the counsellor’s reaction was a part of the “Post Columbine culture” and that some people have been ostracised in the U.S.A. for not behaving similarly. But the whole idea of counselling has been damaged in the process. I knew a woman once who was a prospective life line counsellor. She was having lessons. She hated me - there was a complete clash of personalities going on. I realised then that my options of using the service had been completely negated. It would be like playing some kind Russian Roulette. I’ve never wanted to use it and probably never will but my insights into it have not been that great and are not improving.

P.S. Thank you Czarcasm.
