I've paid for the SDMB because I think that I owe it to them. . .

So I’ve finally ponied up the money for the SDMB. I’ve been lurking since 2000, when I first stumbled across a Threadspotting for one of Wally’s threads. I’ve been on almost every day since then, though I don’t post often. I tend to think that, if I don’t have anything worthwhile to add, I’ll just watch instead.

When the SDMB went to subscription, I actually had a crisis of conscience about whether I should pay the cash. I even talked to my wife about whether I should pay (not that that’s significant. I just thought that I should talk to her about it.)

I saw many that were saying that they wouldn’t pay to add content to the boards. I respectfully beg to differ. I think that’s it’s more akin to paying for the use of a phone, where you pay for the ability to add whatever you want to.

I also thought that, over these past three years, I’ve gotten a lot of enjoyment and great advice from the SDMB. I thought that $5.00 wasn’t too much considering the entertainment and information I’ve gotten these last years.

Take my money, Chicago Reader, and do with it what you will. And thank you.

By the way, since I have paid, I plan to post more often. Prepare to get sick of me.
