I watched another website do this. It took concentrated mod effort, several years, a lot of flameouts of good people, and the boss finally having enough and banning the five or six assholes who started 95% of the fights because, for some reason, those guys aren’t ever motivated to go and throw their shit someplace people would appreciate it. The good people we lost in the interim? Probably could’ve nipped that one in the bud earlier. It will be interesting to watch, if they’re serious, sad if they aren’t, and absolutely hilarious (for me) if they try to half ass it.

I don’t see non-warnings as “no longer tolerating” anything. It’s not even a slap on the wrist.
I tried being charitable to the mod staff on previous contentious issues and got bubkis for it. Why should I trust their moderation on sexism will be any better than their moderation on racism, xenophobia, transphobia, or Islamophobia?
I’m not saying they won’t make a stab at it - *obviously *they will - but it’s not because they want to do the right thing or feel personally committed. It’s because they feel like a mob forced them into it, which clearly shows in the resentment dripping from posts by **Bone **and JC. They seem to feel actual valuable contributing posters are being railroaded by individuals with a grudge, rather than real misogynist trolls being pointed out by responsible Board citizens. That doesn’t indicate they’ve really internalized *anything *about what people have been saying about the poisonous atmosphere here.

Welcome to the Straight Dope! Might I recommend spending some time reading some old threads, browsing some current ones and get a just get a better feel for the board culture before making too many posts that might get you into hot water. If the mods have the ability to see this, I officially renounce any privacy considerations and invite them to out me if I do in fact open other threads I don’t post in, or even look at the list of threads very often. As I keep saying, I am actually admitting self-centered and almost parasitic board behavior I am not super proud of. Strange that you think I am, in so doing, being dishonest!
