Yeah, well, worse topics have been posted. After so many miserable seasons, it’s nice to see 'em start out good for a change. (how long it will last is another matter)
I find it especially nice that Wayne Chrebet caught the game winner, and Keyshawn Johnson was pretty much a non-factor.
And before any of you Tampa fans start ragging on me, I also enjoy the fact that they beat a really good team in the Bucs. It wasn’t looking too good for a while.
Nothing better than a Vinne pass and a Curtis catch when you have both of them on your fantasy football team.
Plus, they now have a loss and the Vikes don’t.

The BEST part was that Wayne Chrebet showed he had class by keeping his mouth shut and refraining from any “in your face” gestures that are so prevalent today.Keyshawn has ZERO class…never has,never will.

TroubleAgain, I’m glad that weather cleared up, though even if it would have been a sloppy field, I’m more comfortable with Curtis running the ball than Vinny putting it up for grabs. I’ll cut him some slack for still being a little rusty.
And believe me, I can appreciate you sticking with your team. After so many bad seasons, we’ve both suffered long enough.

That was one of the most exciting 2 minutes of football I’ve seen in awhile. What a duck that pass from Martin was, good thing it took Tampa by surprise.
I never thought I’d root for the jets, but:

I’ve seen this movie before, and I know how it ends.
The Jetsies are just setting us up for an especially emotionally excrutiating 7-9 finish.
But I’m enjoying the fun part while it lasts.
That’s right, the Jets are going to fade away without any help from anyone. Meanwhile, the Bucs get to play the Super Bowl at home.

All props to the Jets for digging deep and squeaking by a grossly napping Bucs D, courtesy of a fumbling and overconfident Bucs O. I wish it had turned out differently. But seeing as how they aren’t even in the same conference, in the grand scheme of the season, a loss to the Jets means less than nothing.
And if it wasn’t for Key running his piehole and the media orgy that followed nobody would have paid much attention to this one. (It’s not a “rivalry”; the teams barely ever play each other.)
Next week the Bucs play the Redskins and then the Vikings, both road games. The Bucs are going to absolutely destroy them both; the only question is which will get the bigger paddlin’.

Not that I expect the Jets to be in Tampa again any time soon. I’m with manhattan - who in hell knows what new and creative ways the Jets will find to flop? But if I were you, RTA, I wouldn’t be running any Super Bowl smack until my team actually gets there. I think I heard this stuff last year from Buc fan, and look how that turned out. I mean, why bother with the games if we know who’s going to win?
Do you think maybe it’s the uniforms? After all, since changing uniforms and logos, the Broncos, Bucs, and Jets have all done a lot better than past seasons.

I’d remind you that, setting revisionist history aside for the moment, last year’s preseason was all about Jets hype. They ended up having to desperately claw their way up to .500 … Meanwhile, the Bucs just barely - barely - missed stopping the Rams juggernaut and going to the 'Bowl.
And the Bucs are a better team this year than last. (shrug) January it is.

Relax, man, it’s football, not life and death. I’m guessing you’ll be making lots of friends around here by assuming that “chicks” are dumb and don’t know anything about football, and will only cheer for their favorite color or pretty logo. I know lots of “chicks” that are into football just as much as any guy, including my wife. Surprise! (See? That’s why cyber sex is so dangerous, you never know who’s on the other end.)
The uniform comment was a joke. Since we were talking some football in a supposedly good-natured way, it was just a method to deliver a crack at the Patriots. I even used the “stick out tongue” smiley, but I guess you find those effeminate as well.
As far as last season, the AFC East was all about Peyton hype. You mention the Bucs just barely missing going to the Super Bowl. Where do you think the Jets were in '98? Uh, let’s see, one loss away from the Super Bowl? And I’m sure the Bucs would have still wound up playing the Rams if they had Shaun King out for the year, injuries to Alstodt, Sapp, and a whole bunch of other key players. After the injuries the Jets had, .500 was pretty respectable. At least they didn’t throw the towel in.
Jeez, RTA, it’s not like I dogged your team or anything. According to all the hype, they have a good shot at winning it all. Like I said, it was nice to be able to beat a quality team like the Bucs. Lighten up. Take a deep breath. Envision the Bucs stomping the Skins. There. Feel better?
