Even if it was, Iron Man 2.
But also totally in keeping with the idea of what a Jedi is as established in the original trilogy.
Aw. I liked Iron Man 2.
So you’re the one!
Nah, Iron Man 2 was OK, but clearly inferior to the first one.
I think it may have been more misaimed; it was a character study with some superhero bits tacked on. I liked the character study and I liked the superhero story, but they didn’t have squat to do with one another. Both ended up cheapened as a result.
Opinions differ, obviously, YMMV, and all that, but really I think “The Avengers” is insanely overrated. It was fun and had its moments, but much of it was an awful mess, too.
Objectively, I don’t see how someone could argue Joss Whedon puts together great films. He is a terrifically talented writer, but his directorial skills, at least in feature films, are very pedestrian. There’s nothing at all special or interesting about any movie has has ever directed in terms of its worth as cinematic art. It’s very by-the-numbers stuff.
In all fairness, the first one DID set the bar awfully high. ![]()
Well, he’s only directed two movies, one of which was a spin-off of his TV show, so I don’t think the sample size is quite as large as you make it sound.
But I agree Avengers was kind of a mess as well, and it didn’t exactly fill me with desire to have Whedon direct another adaptation of someone else’s characters, even though I’ve liked most of his other stuff.
