Let’s hope that this is the first and last time the Beastie Boys are ever invoked in the Star Trek universe.
I’m not 100% sure, but one of the aliens that popped up in there looked like a Jem’Hadar to me. It’d definitely be interesting to see the Dominion introduced into the new timeline if that’s what they’re going for.
IIRC, Beastie Boys is a callback to the first Abrams ST movie - they are playing when young Kirk steals the car.
Third and last anyway. Kirk listens to them in the first two JJ Abrams movies.

True, but this time at least it looks like someone new. Isn’t that one of the Trek guidelines? You know, “Seek out new life and new civilizations who can crush us like bugs”?
Looks eminently missable to me. 
I’m glad they are going in a more thoughtful and emotional direction rather than a slam-bang action adventure direction.
Yeah, and with a lot less CGI and fewer special effects too! :rolleyes:
