Star Trek : Beyond - Trailer is here!

Looks fun - personally - can’t wait -

you bashers can have fun with it all you want.

“well, that’s typical”

simster, you got the booger video, instead!

Here’s the real one.

Fixed it on edit - that was a hellofa thing.

“lets not do that again”

“I used to listen to the Beastie Boys back in the 20th Century! I have all five of your albums!”

“That was 300 years ago. We have seven now.”

[Principal Skinner] Oh, mercy! [/Principal Skinner]

Let’s hope that this is the first and last time the Beastie Boys are ever invoked in the Star Trek universe.

I’m not 100% sure, but one of the aliens that popped up in there looked like a Jem’Hadar to me. It’d definitely be interesting to see the Dominion introduced into the new timeline if that’s what they’re going for.

IIRC, Beastie Boys is a callback to the first Abrams ST movie - they are playing when young Kirk steals the car.

Third and last anyway. Kirk listens to them in the first two JJ Abrams movies.

OK, the 6-year-old in me has got to know. What video was this?

Seconded. I do love a good clipboard error, me.

Anyway, I see J.J. has maintained one of the central tenents of Trekdom: that Starfleet can get its ass kicked by absolutely anybody who cares to show up.

In the “Because I know how much the SDMB loves their zit videos…” thread, there is this post with this link:

BEWARE! Disgusting, clinical, fascinating–NRAL* material. You have been warned!
*Not right after lunch.

Hmmm. Looks maybe 20% less lens flare, so I’m in.

I don’t get it. That was an okay Fast and Furious trailer, but where was Vin Diesel?

True, but this time at least it looks like someone new. Isn’t that one of the Trek guidelines? You know, “Seek out new life and new civilizations who can crush us like bugs”?

Looks eminently missable to me. :frowning:

I’m glad they are going in a more thoughtful and emotional direction rather than a slam-bang action adventure direction.

Yeah, and with a lot less CGI and fewer special effects too!

I got your “thoughtful” Star Trek right here

and here
and here

oh and lest we forget
