They also cheered Michael Irvin’s career ending injury. Thank God the Eagles didn’t make the Super Bowl…Raiders fans and Eagles fans in the same stadium? The National Guard would have had to mobilize across the country to contain the violence and negative vibes.
I think the Philly fans are awful, but the booing of Ja Rule was classic. One of the worst halftime shows I can remember. I’m not a fan of the “mini concert” shows anyway, so unless it’s a marching band, I’m turned off. But this one was BAD. And the butchering of the National Anthem bordered on criminal.
One final observation/question… wasn’t that Howard University’s band? WTF? Doesn’t Philadelphia have enough colleges in the area that would have been able to send their pwn band?
I did some laundry during the halftime, so I wasn’t really paying attention, but I heard booing at the end. I assumed he must have been wearing TB colours or something.
Before the 4th quarter at the Tennessee game, the announced the kids who had won the punt, pass, and kick competition. One of them was booed for wearing a Steeler outfit…
A little off the topic, but how stupid was the network for showing that Raider fan close up along with the audio? When he was talking to the camera I knew he was going to curse any second, and what do you know…
“Let’s knock the train off the f*cking track!”
They quickly cut the audio off and the announcers were quiet for a few moments and continued as if nothing had happened.
I know exactly what your talking about, Bababooey. That guy looked like he was a few sandwiches short of a picnic to begin with; showing him was not the best idea.
Everytime there is a Raiders home game that guy (and a couple of others) are always shown as they break away for commercial. I think I even saw him in the trailer for a Monday Night game.
I do agree that it was probably not the best idea to put the audio on him…what were the guys in the production truck thinking?
Back on topic, that was probably the worst half-time show I have ever seen. JA Rule…WTF???
Oh, I don’t know. I’ve spent two days with Mr. Rule. He seemed like a perfectly nice fellow to me. I shot his M.T.V. Cribs appearance ( although it was made clear, that was NOT his house ). Then there was the **Miami House Party on Cribs **, attended by Mr. Rule, as well as such entertainment luminaries as Vin Diesel and Russel Simmons.
I didn’t say he had a micron of talent. I just said he was a perfectly nice fellow. Even gave me a hug when he recognized me in Miami. Me ! L’il ole me.
I grew up in Philly. We’re a twitchy bunch, but then this comes as no news to the SDMB crowd.
I was thinking about the ha;f-time show while I was crying in my beer over the Iggles lack-luster effort. The only appropriate talent that would work for the last game at the vet goes as follows:
National Anthem- Patty Labelle (cliched, I know, but she is the ultimate Philly Diva)
Half-time show- A reunion of the Hooters (I can’t imagine a more Philly band…and I miss them)
Before the game ceremony- A rogues gallery of the most hated Philly opponents including such notable characters as Michael Irvin, Jimmy Johnson (who I hear they booed on a Fox show filmed in Philly the day before)…maybe a little Neon Deon…and that’s just the Cowboys…we still have a gang of Giants to work with…line them all up and let the fans get one last Boo in before they blow the Rat’s Nest down…ahhh the memories.
But really, the game was horrid and the talent was laughable…it’s obvious that the NFL picked the performers and not the Eagles organization or the city…I can’t think of anything more Un-Philly then Ja-Rule.
I remember Duke Snider saying “In Philadelphia they’d boo a twelve-ounce steak”. He was referring to Phillie fans, but I guess it also applies to Eagle fans.
