Question about football (kinda)

At halftime, what do the people in the stands watch instead of less-agile millionaires yammering away like the folks stuck at home have to?

There may be a halftime show, but honestly, many if not most spectators in the stands are heading to the restrooms to relieve those bulging bladders, and/or buy something to eat.

What Velocity said, and I’ll add that sometimes, there are audience-participation contests. “Okay, can we get … let’s see here … the occupant of Section 23, Row 11, Seat 15 down here? You’ve got a chance to try to kick a field goal for up to $1 million!”

If there are cheerleaders, they will also typically do a few dance routines.

Regular season NFL halftime is 13 minutes, enough time to go to the bathroom or get food, but usually not both.

They showed a clip late in the 49ers-Ravens game of a couple corgis running on the field. That may hvae been during halftime.

I saw that. They should’ve put those pups in ‘Niners uniforms for the rest of the game.

College games used to feature the home team marching band performing at halftime. No idea if that’s still a thing, however.

NFL teams should do that too.

It is.

Good idea. But the corgis might turned down the offer… But that gives me an idea. What dog represents the various teams the best? All the dogs featured in the Browns “dog pound” costumes seem to be hounds.

Interestingly, while animal names for birds, felines, equines, ursus, sheep, and cetaceans are represented in NFL team names, none are for dogs. In fact, I don’t think any of the major sports leagues have a dog name, do they?

The last two NFL games I attended each had a band playing “music” during halftime. Both were terrible, but majority of the crowd seem to think it was okay. One was EDM, and I don’t even recall what the other was. The Seahawks sent me a survey after each game, and I let them know I would have preferred anything (especially a little quiet time) at half time. It’s part of a larger problem, IMO, of trying to keep the crowd so ramped up that every second is filled with loud and (to me) obnoxious music. [Rant complete]

Timber Wolves maybe.

Some college teams are bulldogs.

In addition to the Timberwolves mentioned above (Minnesota NBA) there are the Coyotes (Arizona NHL).

The minor leagues have considerably more.

Oops! Yeah, forgot about those two!

Agree with that - no empty or quiet space is secure in today’s environment. One up-side of going to a game versus watching it on TV is you don’t have to listen to endless chatter from the announcers - man, that get’s tiresome. I have muted the TV on occasion just to see what it’s like, but the trade-off is no stadium noise, which is part of the game.

I thought one of the corgis was in a 'Niners uniform.

There are also Huskies, Terriers, Salukis, Great Danes, and Retrievers.

There are probably more.

I know there are a few at the college level, but my question was about the pro-level.

67,00 fans being quiet for twenty minutes. That would be a sight to see.

Not rare to see - the visiting team just needs to get a 4-touchdown lead. Quiet for rest of game.
