Ok, now I know JDT is just yanking our chain.
Smeghead raises his hand.
And for some really good journalism, Jackie, try http://www.theonion.com - it will really open your eyes to what’s going on in the world.
Well, I’m not going to get into a debate about how useless the mainstream media is with people who think it’s OK to amputate portions of their penis (debate with anyone who is that gullible is useless). However, even if there was any objective reporting done in the mainstream media, they would still never objectively cover anything having to do with MGM. America’s only hope is the tabloids and the National Enquirer in particular. I know, that’s pretty sad. It’s sad that I know more about the penis than anyone, too. I guess this is what happens when the very fabric of society is so heavily degraded as it is now. The tabloids are a good source for the information that I need, anyway.
Let’s just see what the fine journalists at the National Enquirer have to say this month. http://www.nationalenquirer.com/, btw. Hmm…
"Scary Spice’s Spouse is a Louse, says her mom. And he’s gay, too!
“Christy Turlington has emphysema!”
“Diane Sawyer is givin’ hubby grief!”
“Lonely Harrison Ford’s night with strippers!”
Now… I searched on foreskin, circumcision, MGM… nothing.
I hope your research mentions Scary Spice’s hubby. He might be cut- you never know.
andygirl,
> "Scary Spice’s Spouse is a Louse, says her mom. And he’s gay, too! <
Hmmm. A "fag hag"? Maybe. Maybe not. Probably nothing too important here. A lot of gays pretend to be straight and go into straight relationships. It's important to study this because one would not want to mistake the inevitable sexuality problems in those relationships with those sexual problems that arise from MGM.
> “Diane Sawyer is givin’ hubby grief!” <
Probably of no value.
>“Lonely Harrison Ford’s night with strippers!” <
Ford is circumcised. His penial erotic sensations would have died decades ago. But, not necessarily his libido. Poor fellow. He could probably calm himself down and save his marriage if he would just restore his foreskin. Ford has money. Ford can easily get women. Ford lives in a fish bowl. We'll all be able to watch what he does next. What's he doing? Going to strip clubs on back-country roads trying to find what was taken from him before he ever got any real chance to know it? I feel so bad for that guy. I can't help him, though. He'd never listen to me. I wouldn't be able to stop Ford from chasing women, but I could help him to get his urges into proper perspective. And, that would help him a lot.
> Now… I searched on foreskin, circumcision, MGM… nothing. <
I'd probably know about it if they did anything on MGM.
> I hope your research mentions Scary Spice’s hubby. He might be cut- you never know. <
Could be he is having sexual issues as a result of his circumcision (if he's been circumcised). Maybe he is completely straight but his penis isn't working right so they call him gay. The paparazzis (Sp?) are always around to help us study the lives of these guinea pigs, aren't they?
Man, I wished I’d opened these threads earlier!
JDT, in med school, we learned the benefits to circumcision were small. In Canada, the government does not pay for circumcision. Parents still want them for a variety of reasons and many are only too happy to pay the $150 CDN fee.
I am now a resident. During my pediatrics rotation, I performed four circumcisions myself. They’re pretty easy to do. We applied EMLA, a topical anesthetic which is extremely safe. 3 of the 4 times, the baby did not even cry. The other time, the baby cried for about 1 minute. Babies in pain cry for longer than that. Bablies having the worst pain they’ll ever feel are inconsolable.
Most of the pediatricians where I work don’t think there is a strong medical benefit to circumcision. Nobody pushes it on patients who don’t want it. But even the McGill professor who recently won international kudos from people with your views admitted that excwptions should be made for religious and cultural reasons. Understand that didn’t go down too well with you yahoos.
I’d be very interested to hear about your childhood. Did all us circumcise guys give you wedgies in the locker room? How do your dates react when you tell them about the Whole Penis movement? When you pay your taxes, how do you define your job description… whole penis engineer? Has the psychotherapy helped you any?
How could you think of banning JDT? I’ve rarely laughed so hard! And not all of his points are crazy. I think medical procedures should be shown to be beneficial. If they are equivocal, they’re not worth doing. I don’t think the burden of proof is entirely on JDT, and if it is, God help us all.
JDT says
No, it’s only sad that you think you know more about the penis than anyone. It finally boils down to sad.
Oh. My. God.
I have seen the beacon of ignorance, and it is shaped like a foreskin.
Dr_Paprika,
> JDT, in med school, we learned the benefits to circumcision were small. <
Who cares about the benefits until you know the costs?
> In Canada, the government does not pay for circumcision. <
True.
> Parents still want them for a variety of reasons and many are only too happy to pay the $150 CDN fee. <
The worst thing about circumcision is that it creates more circumcisers.
> I am now a resident. During my pediatrics rotation, I performed four circumcisions myself. <
Yes, you've been inducted into the coven of the guilty, now. They get interns early so that they will have to hide their guilt and not speak out.
> They’re pretty easy to do. <
Just think: Practice surgery on somebody's genitals and no complaints!!!
> We applied EMLA, a topical anesthetic which is extremely safe. 3 of the 4 times, the baby did not even cry. The other time, the baby cried for about 1 minute. <
You're a very sick man. You'll be in a good position to do a lot of harm. Something just occurred to me. I'm going to go find a doctor who refused to do any circumcisions when they tried to induct him into the coven of the guilty. This just in case I ever need a doctor because I don't want someone like you touching me.
I just met an intern a few months ago who refused to do any circumcisions when he was going through his OB-Gyn training. He still got an "A." You could have done the same thing.
> Babies in pain cry for longer than that. Bablies having the worst pain they’ll ever feel are inconsolable. <
The best evidence indicates that you inflicted the worst possible pain on those babies. And, they don't necessarily cry. They go into shock, sometimes.
> Most of the pediatricians where I work don’t think there is a strong medical benefit to circumcision. Nobody pushes it on patients who don’t want it. <
Well, as far as I know, ten out of ten babies oppose circumcision. Have you found a baby who requested one. What language was he speaking?
>But even the McGill professor who recently won international kudos from people with your views admitted that excwptions should be made for religious and cultural reasons. Understand that didn’t go down too well with you yahoos. <
He still was taking a major risk with his career by openly opposing circumcision in any way. Probably the exception that he made was just lip service. I don't have anything bad to say about someone who risks his career like that.
> I’d be very interested to hear about your childhood. Did all us circumcise guys give you wedgies in the locker room? <
Through no fault of your own, I think that circumcised men do cause a lot of trouble. But, worse than that, is that circumcised men are pussywhipped. The unnatural psychological state of circumcised men means that there's no real men around to solve problems as has always been the case until now.
>How do your dates react when you tell them about the Whole Penis movement? <
I don't broadcast to people that I just meet that I'm an anti-circumcision activist.
> Has the psychotherapy helped you any? <
The proper psychiatrist might help YOU. You need it for the sake of everyone who you will ever have under your thumb as a doctor.
> How could you think of banning JDT? I’ve rarely laughed so hard! <
Laugh all you want to. That's denial. You're moving closer to reality.
>And not all of his points are crazy. I think medical procedures should be shown to be beneficial. If they are equivocal, they’re not worth doing. <
Well, by what you said, don't you consider circumcision to be "equivocal"? Why would you even consider doing one if that's how you feel even if some parent wants it done to their newborn "piece of meat" that they think they own?
Are you sure it’s not trying to lure you in to its castle? Zut and Zingo are up to that, I hear, since they registered with the StraightDope. They’ll take anyone in there, especially someone so dedicated to porn - erm, research into the penis.
JDT, I would argue some of your points here, but I prefer to argue/discuss with people who are intelligent and even occasionally worth my time. You’ve shown me you can see X and try to convince others it’s Y. And you’ve shown a great lack of respect.
And you saying you know more than anyone else about the penis just means you’ve looked at a lot of dicks for “scientific research”. We had another poster who passed off his assholishness as research. That didn’t fly. At all. If you’re going to do research, at least do it scientifically. Don’t talk about it and have nothing to show for it. And BTW, a study that includes 21 men is hardly anything significant with the number of men who have been circumcised.
Another BTW . . . given the chance, no. I wouldn’t be uncircumcised.
Crap. He’s going to respond to this, isn’t he . . . oh, fuck. I so don’t need this shit. I’ve got a paper to write.
Jack, what do you think you’re doing? Broadcasting to thousands of strangers that you had better hope you never meet in person that you’re a rabid, foaming-at-the-glans, anti-circ fanatic!
Fortunately, I’ve come to expect hypocracy like this from you.
putz.
I’ll third the nomination to ban - after all, he called me a child molester and not a word was said (which in itself surprised me).
Esprix
Let’s not even mention . . . oh, let’s do mention the insults in GD to the poster who was himself circumcised and was going to circumcised his son . . . I don’t remember his name but I do remember both being called freaks.
And the insults to various posters’ intelligence (including a lawyer) . . . again, in GD.
And not really following the rules there in general by not providing adequate links and such, and continuing to deny that he had to prove something to be true when EVERYONE ELSE said he did.
You come here, jackoff, you play by our rules. You have a point to make, make it. Don’t say “Oh, I’ve raised questions . . . now they have to prove me wrong”. If you’re going to say that doing X is wrong, you’ve got to prove it, not the other way around.
Why, oh why, do I continue to waste my time with you?
I, by the way, fourth and fifth the suggestion, though I suppose this thread will get locked because of trollhunting. You’re not the typical kind of troll, Jack. But you’re annoying and . . . interesting all the same.
[A bleary-eyed Jerry Lewis stumbles in, bowtie partially undone…]
We’re now on page nine of our Save the Foreskin Telethon, and time is running out. As you all know, once threads reach page ten, all kinds of strange things happen. With the shuffling of the posts and the voyving and the brokening of the links and Nice LAAAAADYYYYY…
Get in your last few Tug-a-Hoy and frenula jokes, kids. This thread’s about to get snipped soon.
Besides, I think at this point the whole conversation is, well, flaccid.
[hijack]
As the OP, would it be low-class of me to request that it not get closed until it hits 10,000 views? I know it can keep being viewed after closing, but it’s my most successful thread and I’m feeling a bit paternal.

JDT has just been jerking us off. He’s gotten everyone worked up and he’s laughing at us while he gets his own rocks off.
Fact remains, he’s trolling us hard, and we’re biting like starving perch. He doesn’t believe a word any more–he’s only trying to see how outlandish he can get and still have us following him credulously.
It’ll only get worse from here, kids. Mark my words.
andros:
Nah, I have a sneaky feeling that JDT actually does believe in what he says. He’s just been too consistant in his beliefs. And how many people do you know that set up anti-circ websites for a laugh?
I think you’re right about the trolling, though. There’s no question that he was mightily enjoying himself when people were outraged at him and set up churches in his honor. Now that the fuss has died down JDT is starting to lose his raison d’être. You can tell that he’s having to push people farther and farther to get a response. (Case in point: calling Esprix a “child molester.” Hey, Esprix, I would have called JDT on that if I’d seen it too, but, after awhile, all of JDT’s insults just sort of merge into one gray sludge.) Hence JDT’s new gambit of calling the supermarket tabloids the font of all wisdom. He’s really scraping the bottom of the barrel now.
I suspect JDT is going to implode soon, frustrated at his own inability to outrage anyone else. He’s been hanging on the edge of getting banned for a long time now, always just getting away with it. I suspect that if we ignore him for a while, we’ll see some fireworks. Of course, now that I’ve said this, it probably won’t happen. But–when’s the last time JDT ever took notice of what someone else said?
I think it’s because he’s so obviously an idiot that no one paid his accusation any mind. It would be like accusing you of assassinating President Lincoln or of kidnaping the Lindbergh baby.
I agree that circumcision is an equivocal procedure. I don’t think the benefits are high, and I don’t think the costs are high. I don’t see how the costs could possibly be as high as you claim. I could care less if I got an “A” or not in my pediatrics rotation. I am more interested in learning skills than getting marks. Even so, I probably won’t do circumcisions in clinical practice. Several residents in my program don’t want to do them and no one cares. No one is persuaded to join “ranks of the guilty”. Lots of pediatricians speak out against circumcision with no risk to their career (albeit more often recently than formerly). The pediatricians at my hospital do so all the time.
Have you ever seen a baby in shock? Are you suggesting the baby has irregular heart rhythms due to circumcision? Loses lots of blood? Or are you just speaking off the top of your head?
Obsessive-compulsive patients are too hard to treat. I’d be happy to leave that up to someone else.
Dr_Paprika,
> Several residents in my program don’t want to do them and no one cares. <
Are you saying that you know people who throughout their medical training have refused to carry out a circumcision? Or, are you saying that some doctors have just opted to not do them after they did a few in medical school?
> Have you ever seen a baby in shock? <
No, I have not. I've not witnessed any circumcisions.
> Are you suggesting the baby has irregular heart rhythms due to circumcision? <
This is only one symptom of shock. There was research done in England a while back where they actually measured physiological reactions that babies had while they were being circumcised. When they took measurements off of the first few subjects, they ethically had to stop the study because the babies reactions went through the roof.
>Loses lots of blood?<
It does happen, sometimes. And, you certainly know that a baby has hardly any blood to lose. That alone is reason enough to not do a circumcision.
