But… but… how could they do this? Now I’ll have to drink 3% more of it.
Shit, I can’t be doing that kind of math when I’m drunk. Maybe I’m not even drunk! Or I’m only 97% as drunk as I used to be.

There’s an easy solution to this quandry. Simply take your problems up with one George Dickel (90 proof Tennessee).
They can have my non pussified whisky when they prise it out of my cold dead claws. Hands, I mean hands.
Sheesh, I might already be getting pussified.
Does anyone have a link to the online petition to change JD back to it’s former 86 proof?
I dunno. Do you have a beard?

When their market research said that people preferred a bit weaker whiskey, do you suppose it ever occurred to anyone at the distillery to say, “Well, you can always dilute it more to make it weaker if you want. But you can’t buy a bottle and distill it more to make it stronger.”
Me, I’ll stick with my Woodford Reserve, my Booker’s, and my Maker’s Mark. The Woodford when I want something smooth, the Booker’s when I want something strong, and the Maker’s when I want to be a bit more frugal.
Meh.
My preferred whiskey is Scots, which is usually 80 proof anyway. But the JD people really ought to have left a good thing alone. Those wanting pussified JD whiskey ought to have been invited to find another brand.
As long as they don’t lower the proof of Smirnoff Ice, I can continue my manly drinking!
Last week on “Rome Is Burning” host Jim Rome commented on this alleged attempt of pussification.
Paraphrased – If you’re that worried about a drop from 86 to 80 proof, you should check into a clinic.
In the artical a boycott was suggested… It sounds like that would be the “right” thing to do for those so “het up” over the proof change. Take a wee break from the “wee nip.” You’ll thank me later. (appologies to Monk :D)
Jim Rome said something sensible?
Who wrote it for him?
Don’t Jack Daniels adverts go along he lines of - “We’ll never change our whisky. Because the only person with the authority to do it is dead!” ?
Guess they change their minds. Or… ahh! Zombie!
Next thing we know, someone will be changing Night Train Express on us, or be messin’ with Wacky Duck. What a world, what a world!
I bought it. I tasted it.
It’s fully pussified.
Frankly, I find Buffalo Trace to have much better flavor than JD has, plus it’s 90 proof!
Wow. Last time I bought a bottle at CostCo I noticed it was 80 proof after I got it home. I put it down as a CostCo thing; never occurred to me that it was the whole line, so to speak. Being ex-military and not a beer drinker, JD is practically a requirement. What am I gonna do now?
DD
Well, DD, the JD Single Barrel is 94 proof, but it’s more expensive (and those bums don’t deserve a single cent anymore).
Blah. My drinks are GlenFidditch ahd Bacardi 151. 80 proof is unAmurrican
