Jacuzzi/Hot Tub: Rules Against Using Them Alone?

I was at a spa the other day (on my period, and, as I mentioned in the other thread, the tampon situation got resolved).

At the jacuzzi, there were signs warning us not to consume alcohol, not to spend too much time in it, etc. There was also a sign saying that people shouldn’t use it alone, which I had heard before, but I was never sure why. Is it in case you become overheated and pass out, someone will notice? It’s never seemed too intense to me, and this particular hot tub wasn’t even all that hot.

Even without alcohol, hot tubs can often make people woozy - especially when they go to get out. Sitting there is fine, but then when you stand up and start climbing/walking out, you can get dizzy and fall. Falling on hard cement and tile and being knocked unconscious and falling into a giant bubbling pool of water can lead to bad things. The bubbles would probably hide your body for long enough for you to drown even if someone was walking by the hot tub on their way to somewhere else.

Asked and answered, but I’ll just add that our hot tub is much more fun and relaxing when used in a social situation.

They also have a timer that somebody has to walk to in order to start the whole thing running. Somebody has to be conscience to keep running it.

I don’t know about any rule against using them alone, but I’ve got a rule of thumb…

Thanks for the responses, guys.

Somehow, I should have known this was coming.
