Jailbreak for iOS 6.0 - 6.1 finally released

Hmm, I must be doing something wrong. My Cydia Installer is 1.1.8 but my iOS is 6.1. Should I upgrade to 6.1.2 via iTunes?

Yes, Please.

You are also a patient man… smart to wait and add one by one, but I’m an impatient gal…

Launch Cydia, go to Manage, tap on Packages, scroll down to evasi0n 6.0-6.1.2 untether, tap on it. Check the version number. If it’s 0.4-1 you have the latest version. If not, upgrade it to the latest version.

If your Weather app is still crashing, it’s because you have AppCake installed. Uninstall AppCake.

Hmm, I’m on 0.4-1, I removed AppCake via Manage and then rebooted but still am having problems with the weather app.

Activator - configure gestures to access just about anything on your device, e.g. double tap on the status bar to launch <app of your choice>, etc.

AdBlocker - block annoying adds. Also AdBlockerNetworks for blocking iAds.

AppInfo - export a list of App Store apps and Cydia apps for reference and sharing with others.

Auxo - one of the most beautiful tweaks. When you double-tap home, instead of just seeing the app icons, you actually see a screenshot of where you last left off. In addition, it offers better music controls and toggles than the stock iOS.

Bars - a more accurate signal strength indicator. Instead of 3 bars, it shows you 2.5 bars if that’s a more accurate representation of the actual signal strength.

BiteSMS - one of those tweaks that singularly make the iPhone worth jailbreaking. Makes SMS way way better on the iPhone, including quick reply from anywhere, time-stamps for every message, and a ton of other improvements. Also great for sending international SMSes at a reduced rate.

BlurriedNCBackground - adds a blurr effect when you pull down the Notification Center, as though you’re looking at the screen behind the NC through a foggy glass.

Crash Reporter (along with syslogd) - find out what’s crashing your iPhone. You can then email the crash logs to the developer and have them attempt to fix it. I once found out by reading the crash logs that my iPhone was shutting down because it was getting too hot (it was out in direct sunlight, but there’s no way I would have thought of that).

Dimmer - one of the most annoying things about the iPhone is that the lowest brightness setting is too bright for reading in a dark room. This fixes it. Works great with SBSettings and F.lux too.

Display Recorder - video record your iPhone screen. Great for submitting feedback to app developers, or to train people on how to use something on the iPhone, or to create a video demo of your app to show to an audience.

F.lux - if you already use f.lux on your desktop, it’s available for your iPhone. If you don’t, get it for your desktop and iPhone. Turns down the bright blue glow of digital displays to a warm yellow glow for reading at night. Claims to help you fall asleep sooner while reading at night, but there’s no way for me to test.

Fake Carrier - change your carrier name on the top left of the status bar to whatever you like. Needs a reboot after you change the name.

Flex - unbelievable tweak. Allows you to create and apply custom patches to any app on your iPhone. Includes a community section to download patches that others have created. Examples include unlimited Safari tabs, disable News Stand, enable background audio for YouTube, mail unlimited photos, and a ton of others.

FullForce for iPhone - if you have an iPhone 5, this tweak expands all non-iPhone 5 apps to full screen mode. No more black bars on the top and bottom of the app. Also available for iPad.

FullScreen for Safari - fullscreen mode for Safari, even in portrait. With simple gestures you can toggle fullscreen on and off. Also supports gestures for back/forward, etc.

iCleaner - if you’re running out of space on your iPhone, this is an incredibly powerful tool. Cleans up your device, and removes unnecessary files (e.g. images for different size screens, languages that you don’t use, etc.).

iFile - a very powerful file manager for iOS.

IntelliD - network-based Caller ID. Displays names of callers even if they are not in your address book. If number is registered to a corporation, displays the name of the corporation.

Ipsum and Lorem - Clear notifications from the Notification Center and Lock Screen by dragging.

LowPowerBanner - disable the annoying 20% and 10% battery low warnings. Instead, the warnings show up as an unintrusive notification on the top of your screen.

MultiIconMover - moving one app at a time is cumbersome. Use this to move multiple apps at the same time.

Navigate From Maps - use Apple Maps to find a place, then tap on Navigate from Maps to navigate to that location using any GPS app on your device (I use TomTom for iPhone).

Nitrous - allows other web apps to use the Safari Nitrous JavaScript engine. Speeds up all HTML-based apps.

PasswordPilot - stores your App Store password so you don’t have to re-type it every time you download a new app.

Predictor - get a notification when someone starts typing an iMessage, even when you’re not in iMessage. Can be used in conjunction with TypeStatus. Neither works 100% of the time, but when they do it’s pretty cool.

Pull To Dismiss - dismiss the keyboard with a simple swipe down. Useful when the keyboard covers the screen and there’s no way to dismiss it.

ResetAllKiller - Reset All Settings and Erase All Content and Settings don’t work on a jailbroken device. This tweak disables these options so that you don’t accidentally tap them.

Rotation Inhibitor - adds rotation toggle to SBSettings. Great for when reading in bed.

SBSettings - a single swipe for quick and easy access to toggles for WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, Brightness, Rotation, etc. Great way to save battery life by turning off stuff you don’t need, and turning it back on in an instant when you need it.

ShakeToUndo Killer - iOS has this annoying feature, when you shake the phone while typing it undoes the typing. This tweak disables the annoying feature.

Signal 2 - super cool, but doesn’t really “do” anything. This app shows you the location of the cellular tower you’re connected to. Great if you want to figure out where to stand in your house to get good coverage. Also cool when you realize that the tower your phone is connected to is miles away from you.

Sparrow+ - First, get Sparrow from the Apple App Store. Then, install Sparrow+. Sparrow is an amazing email client for iPhone. I resisted it for a long time, but finally got it a few weeks ago and within an hour it became my default email client. Sparrow is an amazing email client. Sparrow+ enables push notifications for Sparrow. Sparrow was recently bought by Google.

Tab+ - remove the 9 tab limit in Safari. Open unlimited tabs.

Unrestrict Premium - Add AirPlay support for any app.

UUIDfinder - easy way to get your UDID and email it to a developer, without having to connect to iTunes.

Voicemail Forwarder - forward iPhone voicemails directly from the device to family or friends.

Zephyr - quite possibly the best tweak ever. You have to use it to believe it. Simple swipes to close apps and switch apps. Works beautifully with Auxo.

3G Unrestrictor 5 - FaceTime on 3G/LTE, iCloud backups on 3G/LTE, view high quality YouTube videos on 3G/LTE, etc.

That’s 38 tweaks, and my iPhone is working flawlessly.

If you have to get just a few, get these:
SBSettings
BiteSMS
Zephyr
Auxo

Okay, I’m kinda going nuts here. Cydia. The queue. I am not going to restart after every little thing. I’d rather put in a bunch of stuff and figure out the conflicts later, the restarts make me crazy.

So I like to get a nice queue going. Well, the first time Cydia told me that there was a problem and it couldn’t apply after I had a dozen apps queued up, I had no idea it was just going to dump the queue altogether.

The second time I at least tried to protect myself by taking screenshots of the queue before cancelling out of it and losing the queue, but this still meant going back and finding and re-adding everything.

After that happened twice. I figured I was safe when I could hit the confim button…until I did so after the biggest list of all, watched it go through it’s thing, and then, instead of a restart, I saw some red text and it said “Return to Cydia” where I discovered that nothing had been installed and the queue was gone.

ARGH

All to say…is there some way to recover the queue, preserve it within Cydia vs. a screenshot that just tells me what to search for, maybe some kind of wishlist function?maybe possible to download individually but save the restart until they are all added? Anything?

Second issue: Cydia search. Took me a long time to figure out that it sucks so hard because the only time it will find the keyword I’m looking for is when it is the first word of the title of the app/tweak. Well, THAT"S weak…am I missing something? That’s about the worst search I’ve ever heard of. There’s no way to search for any app/tweak/package that contains the word “Siri” or “keyboard” or “folder” in teh title unless it’s first? And there’s no way to search the desscriptions ?? I have to browse huge lists to hope I’ll stumble on things that do great stuff but don’t have the right kind of name? I must be misunderstanding something…is there an alternative place to search for apps and tweaks that is better?

And finally, Winterboard - themes…addons…umm. I’monly slightly less confused than I was…maybe 10%. Lots of these themes add functionality and changes and sounds and all kinds of stuff… but only via Winterboard, and the only controls in Winterboard are to order things from most fave to least fave and hope winterboard can sort it out? And some of the items appaearing in Winterboard are things that were put there by packages / tweaks…?

oy.

I love all the creativity and functionality, but the lack of instructions and explanations is damn frustrating.

So…any help on any of these things? Xash?

The Cydia queue is not persistent. This means that every time you exit Cydia the queue is erased. My recommendation is to always install tweaks one at a time, rather than queuing them up. Cydia is a one-man project and is extremely complex. The developer (saurik) has valid reasons, and has shared them publicly, to not make the queue persistent.

The search function has two features. What you describe is the first feature, where it shows you a dynamic list as you type. However, if you actually hit the search button it will do a full text search.

I don’t use Winterboard, so I can’t advise on that.

Bumping this to let y’all know that iOS 7.0.0-7.0.4 is jailbroken now too.
