Do you believe a fork lift operator could use his fork lift only to pick up a penny laying flat on a smooth cement floor?
Actually, I’d be damned impressed if he could do that, having driven a forklift or two in my life and knowing how unsuited they are for precision work.
Heck, picking up a penny lying flat on a cement floor can be tricky even with one’s own hands, if your fingernails are too short. Sometimes I have to lick a finger, press it to the coin and lift quickly, hoping it’ll rise enough for me to catch it.
That’s why I always carry around a telescoping steel rod with a special adhesive tip - for picking up spare change without having to bend down or use my fingers.

I just saw the experiment duplicated on mythbusters. It’s simple, it shows psychic ability, in a straightforward and honest manner.
No it doesn’t.

I’ve seen it done. You put the fork on top of the penny, then drag it backward, and the penny flips up onto the fork. Not easy, but I’ve seen drivers that can do it. It’s trick, like psychic powers.

Cool! If you ever see that on youtube, let me know.

Yes, someone would call the task completed. Every task has to be acknowledged finished or not. Besides what you propose is far to simple to be a demonstation of psi ability and you know it.
I asked you a very simple question which you dodged. Lets try it again. You said, and I quote, “Somebody always has the final say in everything. That’s reality.”
I point your attention to the words “always” and “everything.” Psi has nothing to do with it. I asked you if someone can say I did not do a simple task when* in fact I had*, and have that be the official outcome, just as you claim Randi has the final say on whether the Challenge has been met. Again, in support of your claim that Randi has the final say, you claimed that “somebody always has the final say in everything. That’s reality,” even though it is clearly stated in the rules that no one has the final say; in fact there is no final say. Is that still your position? Do you support it by claiming that there is always a final say in everything?
I’m really sad the MDC will be stopped. However, I tried to stay on top of the applicants on Randi’s websites and it was overwhelming, not only in volume but in self-delusion. I can’t say as I blame him a bit.
I think that James Randi could be the most charming, non-confrontational, non-offensive, non-grating person in the whole wide world and no theoretical psychic with a dime to lose would ever take the tests.
I do think shows such as Mythbusters and sites such as this and snopes.com are making a difference in gullibility. Unfortunately, people really, really like to be ignorant.
I think Penn & Teller are the heir apparents to the Randi Legacy. Both have magical beginnings and are heavily skeptical. I don’t think their level of fame hurts either. And the two of them are good foils for each other, even though I believe it would make Teller “talk.”
I am going to ask my husband if I can have Vinyl Turnips babies. Seriously, you rock. If I can get a second name on my laminated card you’ll second only to Dean Kamen.

Yes, of course, Randi has the final say, yes, yes. In the process of agreeing on what the psychic task will be Randi has the final say, yes, yes. He can accept the agreement or reject it. The psychic can also accept or reject the agreement. Now. Randi is not going to accept an agreement unless he believes it can’t be shown. Very simple. I hope this helps you understand this time.
Of course it does, all you have to do is read the link, they admit it, and give the figures. This is definitely a show of psychic ability. Thought being transferred from the person to the plant. Randi will lose his million if he is honest. Go get him.
A friend of mine just sent me another video of a spirit visiting us. In our spirit form we are blobs, rounds, balls of light, the blue light indicates a very far advanced spirit. Have fun.

I am tired of this speculation based on nothing but your unfounded belief in everything except that which has been proven time and time again throughout history-science. Show us a cite where Randi himself has overruled the protocols of a test co-designed by the testor and testee of the MDC, or refused to pay out the millions after a participant has properly filled out an application and passed the test.

What the hell does a video of blue fuzz attaching itself to a cheap video camera, getting blown around, then falling off the screen have to do with the MDC? Stop posting off-topic videos and anecdotal stories.
No court case at all, only the claimant’s word against Randi’s or one of his assistants. With psi there will never be a simple outcome.
No court case??? If you had a legal contract signed by all parties that promised you a million dollars and you believed and had video evidence that you performed exactly as specified in the contract yet weren’t paid, you betcha sweet ass there’d be a court case! Every lawyer in the country would be at your doorstep drooling over the prospect of handling it. Heck, the other side would capitulate and pay up from the sheer weight of the legal eagles leaning against their door before it ever got to a courtroom! :smack:
Why do you think contracts exist? Ever try to get out of a foreclosure, which is a contract that was breached? Try telling the mortgage holder, “It’s only your word against mine and I don’t owe you anything.”!
I am saying “I” don’t believe they exist. I still keep an open mind–but your debating style leaves something to be desired so I am quite confidant that you won’t prove anything to me since you don’t debate in any logical manner.
Now if Randi believes or not I don’t know. But you are saying in the first paragraph that he believes–yet in your last paragraph you are saying he doesn’t believe in psychics. Which is it?
Your logic seems odd to me. The claim is that these mystical things exist–then prove it. The reverse doesn’t need to happen. In the absence of evidence the base assumption is that they don’t exist. If I state that I think little green men live on the moon, wouldn’t you say that it is up to me to prove it rather then for me to say prove to me they don’t exist?
I am telling you what I heard Randi say, He was asked why he offered the challenge if he didn’t believe they existed and he remarked that he did believe. Randi is an illusionist, and a good one. He doesn’t need to fool psychics, because his income comes from skeptics, those are the people he needs to fool. He also said on the same show that a psychic can use the very same reading, the very same words to read a bunch of people, along with some disparaging words about psychics. At this the audience booed him so much Larry King has to ask multiple times for them to quiet down. You are free to believe what you will, but spiritual experiences have been around since the beginning of recorded history. Thousands of years, I don’t think just because a small minority of people think they are not real, that it will change anything.
Now psychic, spiritual, and miracles have already been proven to exist over the centuries. There are studies, scientific research, as well as millions of personal experiences. They don’t need to be proven any more. If you are claiming they are not real, then it is you that needs to prove your claim. The person making a claim is the one that needs to prove it.

Not speculation, just logic, well founded logic. Yes, I will show you a cite of one of Randi’s tests just as soon as I find one. Been looking for twenty years. Perhaps you can find one?
