I believe the event starts at 5:00. Probably half an hour of chatter before the unveiling.
I bet they’re going to have a half hour talking about the JWST mission before they do the reveal.
NASA TV hasn’t mentioned anything about any of this, it was just a mini documentary about NASA’s role in developing aeronautics tech and now some Q&A with students.
5:03 and Nasa is showing kids asking ISS personnel questions. I’m thinking 5:30 is correct.
It’s on the NASA TV schedule for 5:00 PM. Disappointing that an agency accustomed to precise timing is currently giving us a lesson on how to grow chili peppers in zero gravity.
Luckily the PR folk don’t pilot missions
Yes. ETA now 5:30pm.
There’ll probably be some more fluff before we see the PICTURES
Also … all mode checks complete ! we’re clear to proceed
I’m only getting music on NASA TV. Am I at the right place?
Yes ! you should see what squeegee posted up there ^
I would have thought they’d have more … excitement/build-up.
Maybe it’s all gone wrong !!
It is 1735 Eastern and still that silly music is playing.
The slide says WILL BEGIN MOMENTARILY.
This is ridiculous…
Is any of this (in particular, the stuff tomorrow) going to be on any broadcast or cable network TV?
Asking for a neighbor who is VERY interested but doesn’t have any on-line computer access. Need answer soon-ish.
That’s nothing - it’s 22:45 here and I’ve got to go to bed soon !!
and the silly music is still playing.
My cable package had a NASA channel. Have your friend search for that, it might be there.
I’m sure the thing would have started at 5:00 PM ET exactly as originally planned if the scientists and engineers who created the JWST and understand its results had run the press event. Instead we have the usual administrators basking in the glory of things they had nothing to do with – Bill Nelson, NASA administrator, and Joe Biden, the administrator-in-chief of the whole shebang. Both fine people, but let the scientists handle this!
I think it’s safe to assume that the broadcast and cable news programs (ABC/CBS/NBC News, CNN, etc) will cover the story.
Not so sure of that. The J6 Committee is happening at the same time tomorrow, and it looks like all the TV stations are covering that instead.
I’m seeing the audio and video MASSIVELY out-of-sync – like maybe a minute or more? Is everyone else seeing it like this?
Well, rats. I was hoping it would last a bit longer and tell us a bit more and definitely, definitely give us a large version of that image. Guess I’d better check NASA APOD site and see if it’s posted.
