my theory is that they found many somethings in the video from the documentary, and ms hutchinson will add testimony to what we see.
the film maker said he had about 120 hours of video. you get a bunch of staffers to watch it, each get x amount of hours, write up a summary. that would be very easily done in a handful of days.
the hours of video cover about 2 months, november to january.
I’ve been noticing your insistence that the investigations by the DOJ have been quiet because that’s how some investigations (RICO in particular) operate. Get the lower operatives, work up to the big cheese. I’ve been hoping that you’re right.
I just listened to a podcast (Al Franken. I know, I know…) interviewing Daniel Goldman, who was chief counsel for the House Managers in the first Trump impeachment trial and used to work for the DOJ as well. He confirmed what you’ve been saying. This is being pursued just like a RICO investigation and they need to get A LOT of unimpeachable evidence. He figures we’ll start hearing things big next spring or so.
Thank you. It’s how these things work, and it’s obvious if you work in the legal field. Not so much if you don’t.
I agree with Daniel Goldman’s timeline. We’ve still got a wait ahead of us. And even with iron-clad evidence, no guarantees of total justice at the end of it all. But if not, it won’t be for lack of effort on the part of Merrick Garland and his DOJ.
It’s not really on topic for this thread, but I don’t want to start another one and don’t really expect anyone to comment, so I’ll just say that based on Trump’s moves previous to the election - preventing the FEC from investigating the candidates, putting Giuliani in as the cyber-czar, restricting the DOJ’s ability to investigate campaigns during the election, etc. - I can’t help but feel like the Big Lie was the fallback plan and that there was something first, that didn’t get off the ground. He really did seem to be setting up to cheat the election itself. But then…crickets.
Given that he was trying to prevent Republicans from voting by mail - even though his team told him that there was no disadvantage to him there and no security risk - and that he’d successfully replaced the entire USPS oversight board and the postmaster general, I’d guess that he thought he could do something there and Louis DeJoy shot him down.
I imagine that someone already asked DeJoy and he denied anything. But it would be curious to check with him again on his deathbed, one day, and see what he says.
There are numerous reports that the secrecy and such are because of “credible security threats” relating to MTG. Latest reports are that she will testify today on Meadows’ trip to Georgia to “find votes.” I hope the Georgia Grand Jury is paying attention.
To be clear, the threats are apparently related to Hutchinson’s testimony about MTG and her pardon requests. There aren’t reports that MTG herself has made threats. At least there aren’t published reports.
