from what i understand ms hutchinson is a capable woman. she worked in congress and the senate. she has a high maturity factor.
she is a conservative republican, who worked for those ideals. it doesn’t mean that she wants to be part of a coup, or overthrow the government. from what i saw she is more like romney, cheney, and kinsinger.
If Trump goes down, and the anti-Trump wing of the GOP solidifies, I could see her being tapped to run for Senate in her home state of New Jersey against Menendez in 2024. She would be a formidable candidate.
you can see arm movements. would be interesting to know if they have dash cams with clearer video.
also pence wouldn’t get in the car at the capital because he was not secure in the actions of the secret service. he said he trusted one of his agents, but not others.
She was born in 1996 (although I couldn’t find her exact date of birth). At the end of 2024 she would be 28 years old. Minimum age for a Senator is 30.
Who, Hutchinson? Besides for her being ineligible (underage), there is no way any conservative Republican will be a “formidable” Senate candidate in NJ.
I’m surprised to find out Trump really wanted to go to the Capitol—I thought he was a coward for winding the crowd up and then snuck back to the safety of the White House. I wish he had gone to the Capitol and gotten a snoot full of bear spray.
Yeah, I was in the coward camp also. But I don’t think this testimony resolves that issue - he clearly thought he was in no danger from ‘his people’, which is why he wanted the metal detectors removed. I’m certain his thought process (such as it was) never considered a stray bullet/return fire hitting him. He really thought he would be leading a parade, I think.
Claims through the media don’t mean shit. Hutchinson was under oath. If they have disputes, they can make them under oath. Otherwise it’s nothing but noise.
I’d be intererested to see how uniformly you apply this standard.
But that aside, per my linked ABC article above “Sources familiar with the matter said that Herschmann had previously told the committee that he had penned the note”. I assume that was under oath as well. And the two Secret Service guys are apparently willing to testify under oath as well.
Really, I find it remarkable that the House Committee put out this kind of shaky testimony of such an explosive nature without even bothering to interview the actual people involved. Or, in the case of Herschmann, without trying to verify the facts about which they knew they had conflicting testimony. This does not speak of an objective entity in search of truth.
Um…you know that thing where a lawyer isn’t supposed to ask a witness a question unless they already know the answer?
…
On Wednesday morning, Republicans are rushing forward with unnamed sources to claim that both Security Chief Bobby Engel and other members of Trump’s Secret Service team are ready to testify that Trump didn’t grab the wheel of the presidential limo, or assault Engel.
However, there’s absolutely no doubt that the House select committee would not have put Hutchinson’s testimony before the public if they did not already have corroboration of everything she said. Rep. Bernie Thompson would not risk the reputation of the investigation on unsupported testimony. None of the members of the committee—several of whom have ambitions that go beyond their current position—would risk their political futures on being tied to testimony that could be readily knocked down.
Hutchinson testified she was told about the events in the limo by White House Chief of Operations Anthony Ornato, and it’s a good bet that the committee already has Ornato agreeing to that story.
…
Why should she ask if it was true? If I had heard that from someone on the detail just after it had happened, I’d have no reason to doubt it. This is what a MAGAbot said shortly after it happened before getting pressure to state otherwise.
