January 6...2025, that is

{Note to moderators: feel free to move this to, say, IMHO if it is too much of an “opinion-based topic” for P&E}

The electoral college votes will be counted on January 6, 2025, at 1 PM Eastern, as required by Federal law (specifically, Title 3, Section 15, United States Code).
Any ideas as to what the response will be?

First question: given that the states are read in order, and Alabama went for Trump, how many Representatives will object to Alabama’s votes on the grounds that Trump is ineligible to be President under the 14th Amendment’s “engaged in insurrection” clause - and will any Senators join them?

None. The count will be as uncontroversial and boring as any of those before 2020.

The states will be roll-called. Each will announce for trump or Biden as the case may be with zero drama and in just a few minutes the Fascists and traitors will be annointed no differently than was e.g Bush 1, Clinton, Kennedy or Eisenhower.

They won the election fair and square. They suborned half of the US populace before Election day, but that’s not part of the election per se.

There may be a few dozen protestors on the capital steps with signs protesting Trump but few if any of them try to enter the capital and those that do will be arrested with minimal violence.

There were objections in 2000, 2004, and 2016. I think the only time they had to go to a vote of each house of Congress was in 2004, over Ohio - otherwise, while a few Representatives decided to whine about things (here is then-VP Gore listening to a couple of them in 2000), no Senators joined them.

Whether or not Trump got all of his votes fairly will not be questioned - it will be based on whether or not Trump is eligible to be President. I expect him to be called “convicted felon” at least once.

Actually, I doubt anyone will get anywhere nearby. The counting of electoral votes on January 6 has been declared a “National Special Security Event.” I expect things will be really locked down.

This time there seems to be Trump fatigue in democratic party activists. Not many may show up if a protest is planned.

Or maybe someone else.

A badge he wears proudly. He himself repeated this phrase many times in the campaign…obviously in his view as an example of the weaponisation of justise dept.

I doubt Trump or the republicans care about it…in fact they may play it up in their own echo chamber laughing and smirking at the democrats.

You see posters with a picture of a smirking or smiling trump with words like
“Impeached. Convicted. Shot. Still going strong.”

IOW, the Invincible is strong in our Dear Leader.

Hell yes they’re going to wear that as a badge of honor.
