I just saw this bit of animation the other day: sad, singing kitten. The song is in English, but I’m curious to know what the Japanese text says:1) the main title so I can give this file a name, 2) the label on the box the kitten is sitting in 3) the text of the note on the box at the end of the animation, 4) the banner on the building behind hte kitten, and 5) the caption at the bottom of the screen at the end of the animation. I know there are some Japanese speakers out there, so help satisfy my curiosity.
By the way, the song is “Luna’s Boat Song” from Lunar: Silver Star Story, a video game.
Testing out my fledgling katakana skills on the writing on the overturned crates (since Tsubaki has covered everything else), I get: “China–hi–ri”. I’m not sure where to go from there–it’s not “Made in China”, which was my first guess. I don’t know what “hi–ri” could be.
Just doing my part to edge this thread closer to MPSIMS, where its kin are. Still, maybe Tsubaki will come back by and enlighten me.
Good guess. You’ve confused “chi” with “mo,” and you missed the dots after the “hi” that turns it into a “bi.” Also, it’s a “ru,” not a “ri.” The box reads “monaa biiru,” meaning “Mona beer.”
I don’t know what all the “mona” stuff is in this cartoon (there’s no brand of beer called Mona that I’m aware of), but that’s what it says, anyway.
When I opened this, I though it would be the “chinko momimomi” song (which also has several “Mona” elements in it). Too bad, I’d already written a translation for that one for a friend.
And no, I’m not providing a link to that. I’m quite happy with my member status as it is, thank you!
Now I remember. Mona is the name of a Japanese BBS where a number of files like this get traded around.@Here’s a link to some of their flash movies. Looks safe.
If you look around the site (which is a challenge if you don’t have Japanese text support) you will discover that the kitten went off to play in the FIFA World Cup.
Just popping in to say: that kitten is ADORABLE. The whole set up is bizarre, but in a good way. I never knew a kitten could sing in such comprehensible English. I’d love to cuddle the little animals in that link;.
Some of those Mona flashes shoot Hiragana across the screen faster than i can read it. They need a really slow version for Gaijin who just started learning.
If you scroll down a little bit, someone has listed some animations. The second one down is a link to chinko.swf. That will open up animation on a new screen.
It’s naughty (although mostly in ASCII), and has sound (in Japanese). Be careful.
Pretty bizarre…expecially where he wins the fight with his cock.
Have you checked out the other movies? Most of them are lame, but there is that one that features George W. Bush complaining about the service in a restaurant.
