NOTHING makes my wife hit the Mute button faster than the start of the Singing Diabetes Lady Commercial. Now in the plural, because we have the Office Signing Diabetes Lady, too.
What’s up with this new one – the SDL helps the DoorDash guy deliver the lunches – and gets the order wrong. Then she helps Neckbeard nerd who doesn’t realize that the copier – which is way too far from the plug – isn’t plugged in. Does having cute little stories maker the product more memorable?
I’ve been checking my sugar regularly and eating a lot less carbs. I’m averaging 110 to 150, as opposed to my first check which was 268!!! I’ve lost a couple of pounds, too.
Who knew mashed cauliflower was kinda ok? I dont need no stinkin’ Jardiance.
I hate cauliflower but you mash it and season it right and mix it with the right stuff and it’s like decent mashed potatoes. Also, cauliflower rice can be good too.
Again, I hate cauliflower but those are ways to trick me into actually liking it (or at least tolerating it).
It’s very similar, close enough that I can’t really tell the difference. It’s not like rice has one consistent texture either, different types of rice will have a different “give” (and it also depends on how you cook the rice).
Supposedly if you overcook it, it becomes mushy and then its resemblance to rice is gone.
We sometimes get it premade and frozen, and following the instructions on the bag it comes out fine.
Note that it doesn’t taste exactly like rice, and so it is going to depend on how you season it. If you eat it plain it’s going to taste like cauliflower. It also doesn’t absorb sauces the way that rice does, so keep that in mind.
I usually don’t prepare it, my wife has in the past, so I can’t remember how it was done. I seem to remember she has used it in stuffed peppers, where you cut open a pepper and cook it with rice and ground beef and tomato sauce and spices, and in that application it didn’t seem that different from rice.
To add to what @Atamasama said: it’s specifically that more separated rice texture that I have never been able to make myself, but have found in store-bought rice dishes. In other words, there is no equivalence to the rice gluten to hold it together. It’s more like wild rice in that way.
But it’s not chewy like wild rice. I’d say the chew is a bit like spaghetti squash. That is mostly noodle, but somewhat vegetable and not sticky. And cauliflower rice is mostly rice, but slightly vegetable.
I believe both Singing Diabetes Ladies begin with “I have diabetes but I manage it well”----the sweetest words Big Pharma will ever hear. I wouldn’t be surprised if 80% of pharmaceutical-company profits come from the treatment of diabetes and associated products.
If anyone found an actual cure for diabetes, they would be murdered before they could even get out the words 'I’ve found a cure for diabetes.’
Well, I now have the symptoms of a thrush infection caused by Jardiance. Pain, itchiness, abnormal whiteness, some bloody discharge, etc. I sent a message to my doctor early this morning to let him know, and that I intend to pick up some OTC anti-fungal medicine after work. I had already planned to go to the drug store anyway, we have some prescriptions waiting to be picked up.
I have a routine check-up scheduled in four weeks; if these symptoms don’t clear up soon, I’ll move that appointment up.
This medication may cause a new yeast infection in the vagina or the penis. It may also cause a rare but very serious bacterial infection in the genital/anal area (Fournier’s gangrene) in people with type 2 diabetes. Tell your doctor right away if you have signs of a yeast infection in the vagina (such as unusual vaginal discharge/burning/itching/odor) or in the penis (such as redness/itching/swelling of the penis, unusual discharge from the penis). However, get medical help right away if you have any pain/redness/swelling in or around the genital/anal area, along with a fever or feeling unwell.
As far as I’m concerned, “Big Pharma” is a multi billion dollar industry that tight ropes the line between what is medically necessary and what is unethical. For someone to say something like that to you over the phone without even giving you your reading or having you come in for a visit is, and to then mandate medication that can be very dangerous is, in my opinion, irresponsible. Again, it’s just my personal feelings on the subject, but I feel that in many cases we are grossly over medicated. Proper diet and consistent exercise can, in many cases, provide the control you need.
