JavaScript Application Exc in ev handl Type Error

Does this look familiar to Firefox users? Last night, as I shut down to go to bed, Firefox kindly told me it would be updating itself - now I get a popup window with this error just about every time I go to a new address.

The full text is:
Header: [JavaScript Application]
Text: Exc in ev handl Type Error: This AnnotatePage is not a function

This is followed by an OK box, which, if clicked, creates another copy of the popup.

Please say I’m the only person who hasn’t already fixed this, or that it’s a 30-second fix.

I’ve already had to wipe this damn Dell inspiron 1525 running XP home sp 3 once, and Tools>Options> Disable JavaScript didn’t work. Did not re-boot with JavaScript disabled.

yes, I know that java and javascript have nothing to do with each other.

thanks

The consensus on the Google is you should uninstall McAfee Site Advisor. Do you have that installed?

By the way, a good place to ask JavaScript questions is here.

I have something called Security Scan Plus" which has components labelled
Virus and Spyware Protection
Firewall Protection
McAfee Web Protection
After it scans it prompts to “see McAfee Products..” which, when clicked open a new tab prompting you to buy even more protection for $40. That tab tokk forever to load - don’t you love it? We tie up your machine to sell you uor product which is good for your system
