Jeb Bush campaign for POTUS thread

And purging the voter rolls . . .

Is Cruz a natural star?

The Fall of the League of Bush

U.S. senator, if you mean Marco Rubio.

He Jebbed it up.

Now Listen to the Story 'Bout a Man Named Jeb

Jeb! 2016: 40% more self-aware, 40% less pathetic!

I can see the bumper sticker already.

Jeb has it all figured out now. The campaign will install applause signs on both sides of the podium for his speeches. Can’t trust the rubes to figure out when something needs applauding.

Why not just install a button on his podium for an applause soundtrack?

I think a laugh track might be more appropriate by now.

If you are referring to Rubio, he is not (and has never been) governor. He was briefly speaker of the Florida House, and is now a US Senator.

I thought that started under Scott.

[Granny] Jeb! Jeeeeb! [\Granny]

No, it started in 1998 – just before Jeb took office, but it went on under his Admin.

This election year his campaign’s nearly dead.
Thought he’d be the GOP’s number one dude
But he failed to account for the electorate’s mood

(“Contrarian, that is. Real down on establishment folk.”)

Well the first thing you know old Jeb’s a millionaire
But Donald Trump won’t stay out of his hair
Rubio and Cruz are out-polling him by far
Guess he just ain’t the next Republican star

(“GOPper, that is. Norquist. Denyin’ science”)

Well now it’s time to say goodbye to Jeb and all his kin
They think your problems are a joke and your life is a sin
They’re not invited back to this locality
They’ll go back to where they belong in CT

(“Eastern Establishment WASPs, that’s what they call 'em now,
Rich folks Y’all stay away now, ya hear?”)

Star? He’s not even a gas giant!

Trump’s the gas giant, Rubio’s the white dwarf.

Then Carson is the black hole?

No, he’s lacking gravitas.
flees

I don’t think it’s exactly Bush fatigue. I think it’s more that voters are offended by the attempt to perpetuate a political dynasty. The biggest thing Jeb had going for him was always the fact that he is a Bush. To people who get misty-eyed about the Founding Fathers kicking old King George’s butt, the idea that a family name would be sufficient to win a man the Presidency is an outrage.

What’s interesting to me is what Jeb’s failure says about the role of campaign spending in politics. He’s proven that there’s a limit to what money can really buy.

It wouldn’t be the first, you know, and the dynasty-factor is not hampering HRC’s campaign perceptibly.
