Jeb Bush campaign for POTUS thread

Sorry India!
How embarrassing… :o

If not for Canada and (arguably) Russia, you could have gone with “largest in terms of land area.”

Jeb Bush’s supporters want those things. They want the same policies that his brother enacted, but they expect them to work this time.

Whether there are enough of those people to get him elected is still to be determined.

He’s supposed to be the *smart *one, I understand.

I think he’d find a majority would agree with him on that.

just curious: does anyone who supports him want him for any reason besides electability? Its not like there is some proven Bush political leadership. At least Hillary supporters can point to Bill and Hillary’s legacy in the WH the first time.

I think that in a vacuum there’s a case for Jeb Bush. His record as governor of Florida is solid, and he combines his father’s decency with better speaking skills.

The problem is that he’s a Bush and the GOP hasn’t had an administration without a Bush in 40 years. Which is part of the reason the party is in decline.

Tough to find Republicans around here let alone one that supports him. I at best support him over a good chunk of my Party’s field. Of course I am an agnostic, socially to the liberal side, moderate Republican. He’s underperformed the hype and strikes me as less than a great choice. He’s relatively moderate given where the party has moved, though. I’d take him over the majority of the field based on that alone. He hasn’t shown much though. I’d still rather have him get the nomination than risk a President Trump or Cruz though.

If I thought the name mattered in the least his dad is IMO the best President of the last 50 years. Maybe the magic gifted President gene got passed to him but not his brother. Maybe W was the milkman’s kid. Even averaging legacies with the second worst puts Jeb middle of the road. Trying to apply the legacy of someone else is BS in my mind.

Maybe it skips a generation.

That would be interesting. Hasn’t one of the “little brown ones*” grown up and entered local politics not long ago, or am I misremembering?

(*Grandma Barbara’s rather innocent description of Jeb’s kids long ago, when describing a family photo to a reporter).

Maybe it’s time to let the field lie fallow.

George (the eldest) is 39 and is Texas’ Land Commissioner. I gather he’s widely viewed as a future gubernatorial candidate.

And currently in the process of purging the Department and filling the vacancies with buddies of the family, flouting State laws on publicly posting external hires like they’ve never been flouted before.

A Bush involved in cronyism and nepotism? I didn’t see that coming.

Yeah, a total shocker to me too.

Jeb is as fucking clueless as his brother.

“Our message is one of hope and aspiration,” he said at the East Cooper Republican Women’s Club annual Shrimp Dinner. “It isn’t one of division and get in line and we’ll take care of you with free stuff. Our message is one that is uplifting – that says you can achieve earned success.”

This is his response on how to win black voters. He’s a fucking idiot.

NOT ANOTHER BUSH! There’s your fucking exclamation point!

“It isn’t one of division and get in line and we’ll take care of you with free stuff.”

He can’t even finish the sentence without contradicting himself!

‘Our message isn’t one of division; it’s about calling black people a bunch of freeloaders!’

In the latest Florida poll he’s 11%, behind Trump (at 31%) and Rubio (at 19%). That’s a sad place for the former governor of Florida to be in the race.

And while speaking at the Shrimp dinner. What, Lobster and caviar out of season?
