Jeez, and I thought "Pigeons From Hell" was weird...

So I’m working my way through the collected short fiction of Manly Wade Wellman (another one of the old Weird Tales authors), and just ran across a story called “The Dreadful Rabbits”.

What’s next?

“The Guinea Pigs of Doom!!!”?
“Satan’s Hummingbird”?

Actually, the story was better than you might expect. It relied on the “you have got to be kidding” aspect of dreadful rabbits.

So… is it any good?

“Pigeons From Hell” may have had a weird title, but the story itself was quite good.

Actually, there was a book about fifteen years ago entitled The Platypus of Doom. The cover shows what I assume to be the titular Platypus floating in space. I think it was wearing a bowtie.

One of my all-time favorite titles, right next to Sharyn McCrumb’s Bimbos of the Death Sun and Zombies of the Gene Pool.
