Jeff Dunham deleted scene

Thats because he let Walter fly

“I don’t know how to fly this damn thing. And I’m afraid of heights. Get my damn ass back on the ground right now!”

In the context, I did. I’ve seen more than one of his specials and legitimately didn’t like 90% of his act.

I’m not sure if it’s a case where the specials are a bad showcase of his style or the 30 Rock material was just unusually good for him. Or, heck, maybe I remember the 30 Rock scene as better than it was; my recollection has it substantially funnier, smarter, and more biting than I recall seeing in other recordings.

Yeah…kinda exactly. You know who else makes fun of NASCAR-lovin’, cousin-kissin’ stereotypes? Other “red state” comics. If you weren’t writing for that audience, the jokes would seem insulting and tasteless or would fall flat. As they do for me. So I go back to my rehabbed urban loft, drink my latte, and listen to comics who make fun of urbane people of taste.

Me too. Never heard of him and I don’t want to wade through dozens of clips. Someone who likes him, please post link to his funniest stuff.

…Okay?

Not everyone prefers to have jokes aimed at themselves. Some folks prefer to have jokes aimed at people they consider ridiculous. That goes for both red and blue.

All of us are ridiculous. We are human. But some folks only see the stupid in others.

I love the guy but I don’t want to wade through dozens of clips to find his funniest stuff for someone who doesn’t care enough to go look for themselves.

Though apparently it does mean that being highly educated and not a racist is no guarantee against having terrible taste in comedy.

Oh yeah! Well stuff you like sucks.

Checked out a clip and, well, morons need entertainment too.

does anyone know what the racist bit in question is?

I think Walter is frickin’ brilliant. From “Spark of Insanity” (posted on Jeff Dunham’s own YouTube channel):

The best of Walter from various guest appearances.

I’d love to see him go head-to-head with Don Rickles.

Almost as good is Achmed the dead terrorist (also from JD’s channel): - YouTube

In addition, it’s probably one of the bravest pieces of entertainment I’ve ever seen, because there’s a good chance he got a death threat or two for it. But see this post: Ahmed, the Dead Terrorist - Cafe Society - Straight Dope Message Board

The offensive Chinese material referred to is probably in one or both of these clips. I will admit he’s at least going right to the edge.[spoiler]- YouTube

bazzle-1st THANK YOU for linking! 2nd, the bit I’m refering to in the OP is the 1st one in the spoiler.

Well, he is an amateur astronomer and his black wife speaks French.

From his 30 Rock appearance.

Just to chime in here, I wanted everybody to know that what I find funny is indeed funny, and what I don’t find funny, is, in fact, not funny.

This also is also true about racism, and any humor that may or may not involve race and racial stereotypes.

Really? I caught a bit of his last special on Comedy Central, and it seemed to me that he’s slipped a bit - he seemed a little laissez-faire and sloppy in spots. I remember him being better than what I saw recently.

K, I made it through 4 minutes that time. I just don’t find him funny. Even a little bit. I’ve never been a fan of ventriloquism OR one-liners.

As far as the racist/offensive humor goes, he reminds me of the also unfunny Carlos Mencia, in the way he really really wants people to know he doesn’t care who he offends. He’s not kidding, you all. He’s hardcore. He’ll say anything.

Compare to Louis CK whose ultimate goal is comedy, not provocation.

I went to a dinner once and ordered clam chowder. It was not good and I did not like it, even a little bit. Of course I don’t like clam chowder. Never have and probably never will.

Hey, I don’t like clam chowder either.

I may not understand why people find Jeff Dunham funny, but I’m not going to fault them for it. Humor is a highly subjective thing.
