Jeopardy! Julia Collins

I usually have a backlog of 10-15 Jeopardy episodes on my DVR. I caught up this week to see if she was still winning.

Indeed she was. 20 straight wins is a remarkable achievement. I hope she keeps going.

Well, I didn’t know it. I was guessing Virginia.

But my wife got it!

Okay, they’re going into the commercial before Final Jeopardy. Collins is not in the lead, but isn’t far off it. If she goes for broke, the leader would have to bet $10401 to win.

If I was the third place gal I’d stand pat.

The category is Oscar Winning Writers.

Okay, Julia has finally lost. She went for broke and got it wrong. The third placed did stand pat, but the leader bet $10000. I don’t understand that bet. What if Julia had got it correct too?

It took a foreigner to take down the Queen of Jeopardy!

Final Jeopardy wagering blunders are an almost weekly occurrence. I wasn’t watching closely enough to catch if the new champ mis-bet and was fortunate that Julia was wrong, but it wouldn’t be surprising. At the very least, the 3rd place lady did the right thing by betting nothing.

Favorite part of the show was when the middle lady gave a correct response of the Rolling Stones when she herself closely resembles Mick Jagger.

Brian had 12,600
Julia had 11,000

Brian had to bet at least $9,401, not $10,401 to beat Julia’s ALL IN wager of 11K.

And I thought I had done the numbers right!:smack:

Still, he bet More than he needed.

Really no risk for Brian to bet the extra $599. Julia was either going (practically) all in or bet nothing, because of third place players could not catch her if she bet nothing.
