Jeopardy Online Tests - January 8,9,10

You ninjad my edit. Here they are again:

9: Homonyms; “To keep your tea bag in water, or marked by an extreme angle.”
31: 7-letter words; “As an adjective it means polite and gracious; as a noun, it’s a strong, sweet liqueur.”
42: Classical Composers; “His ‘Songs to Remember’ include about 50 mazurkas written in a 3/4 dance rhythm.”

  1. Steep

  2. I guessed Chopin

Beaten to 9) Steep, the only one I knew offhand.

Oh, might 31 be “cordial”?

Most of the Google hits for 41 are for this question.

  1. Cordial

I googled a bit harder… I think the composer is Chopin and the liqueur is cordial.

On the composer: I thought so too, but the top Google hit MIGHT be because it mentions an unrelated album by that name on the same page. Look closer to make sure?

So that puts me at 27. Oh well, lol.

I had to look up ‘mazurkas’ and found out they’re Polish. It’s Jeopardy – if you hear hoofbeats think horses not zebras.

That was tough. Thanks to a lot of good guesses, I think I got 37. I’m not sure I put Hundred Years’ War, but I think I did.

I took 15 guesses, getting 9 right. I wouldn’t have gotten #6 correct if you spotted me all the letters in “Vulgate”.

I got 26. Yikes. I liked Tuesday’s better; I wish I’d taken it then.

Almost quit after the Catholic bible, but stayed on. I ended up at 39 , so am happy I didn’t quite quit…

I think I got 35 or 36. No Ke$ha questions, but i still got Katy Perry right.

That was brutal. I got 28, which is much better than I thought after the test. Good news, I have a year to practice. Blanking on things was painful. Stupid Katy Perry.

I guessed on a few also, and did not feel good immediately after, but ended up getting 44, so I don’t feel so bad now.

Agreed. I almost ran out of time dithering between “quantum” and “photon” before finally settling on “quantum.”

It looks like I didn’t do quite as bad as I thought at first. I believe I got 31 correct.

I should have gotten at least 6 more correct including:

[ul]
[li]Josephine (sad since I was in the Louvre a few months ago looking at this)[/li][li]Despicable Me (blanked due to nervousness; all I could think of was “minions”)[/li][li]Bill O’Reilly (even though I saw the 60 Minutes segment on him last week)[/li][li]Kiosk (only had time to type the first two letters)[/li][li]Lord Byron (the only baron I could think of was Munchhausen)[/li][li]Katy Perry (I could picture her in my mind but didn’t come up with her name in time)[/li][/ul]

Oh well, at least I actually took the test this year. Last year I fell asleep and missed it. I guess I’ll try again next year.

Where are the questions from last night? Did I miss them in the thread?

So it looks like for now I’m going back to shouting out answers at the TV while my friends tell me, “Hey! You should be on this show!”

I’ve been stealing them from a Jeopardy! board, and they never posted them. However, they did post this Youtube clip:

Yes. We’re getting answers for 1/9 without having seen the questions. What is this? Carnac the Magnificent?
