9: Homonyms; “To keep your tea bag in water, or marked by an extreme angle.”
31: 7-letter words; “As an adjective it means polite and gracious; as a noun, it’s a strong, sweet liqueur.”
42: Classical Composers; “His ‘Songs to Remember’ include about 50 mazurkas written in a 3/4 dance rhythm.”
On the composer: I thought so too, but the top Google hit MIGHT be because it mentions an unrelated album by that name on the same page. Look closer to make sure?
That was brutal. I got 28, which is much better than I thought after the test. Good news, I have a year to practice. Blanking on things was painful. Stupid Katy Perry.
It looks like I didn’t do quite as bad as I thought at first. I believe I got 31 correct.
I should have gotten at least 6 more correct including:
[ul]
[li]Josephine (sad since I was in the Louvre a few months ago looking at this)[/li][li]Despicable Me (blanked due to nervousness; all I could think of was “minions”)[/li][li]Bill O’Reilly (even though I saw the 60 Minutes segment on him last week)[/li][li]Kiosk (only had time to type the first two letters)[/li][li]Lord Byron (the only baron I could think of was Munchhausen)[/li][li]Katy Perry (I could picture her in my mind but didn’t come up with her name in time)[/li][/ul]
Oh well, at least I actually took the test this year. Last year I fell asleep and missed it. I guess I’ll try again next year.
