Just about every day on Jeopardy!, I see at least one question involving something about Canada and one question requiring Trebek to say something in French.
I wonder if Alex mandates this.
When my wife and I watch, one of us will say, “There’s the Canada question” and “There’s the French question.”
I’ve never noticed this at all.
Once I picked up on it, hardly a day goes by without one, the other, or both.
Jeopardy! is one of the few TV shows in North America that are specifically designed as a joint American/Canadian show (or so I’ve been told). In other words, it’s not just an American show that also is shown in Canada. It is deliberately set up so that both Americans and Canadians can be contestants and so that there will always be some Canadian questions in each show:

I don’t think this was done because Trebek is Canadian. It’s possible that Trebek was hired because he was Canadian. I’ve been told that Iron Chef America is another example of a show deliberately designed as a joint American/Canadian show. This is why Kevin Brauch is the floor reporter for that show.
